Odds of Wil's cathedral ever being finished...
I reckon that needs a graph.

Wil 08-28-2012 02:01 PM

IT'S GOT SEATS, YOU CAN USE IT. IT'S FINISHED.

Crashpunk 08-28-2012 02:06 PM

But where's the roof!? What happens if it rains! All your lovely seats, ruined!

Splat 08-28-2012 02:51 PM

All that effort to try and ensure that you wouldn't fall into the lava light over the rail track while digging the crypt - wasted!

Also, my brother in law tried very hard to get me into Tekkit. Sorrily, he failed. I still don't like it.

Havoc 08-29-2012 03:34 AM

That's a shame, you can do so many things in Tekkit. Unfortunately because of that it also dwarfs vanilla by a lot.

Anyway, the Tekkit server is working properly again. It doesn't kick people randomly anymore because our host has been kind enough to install Tekkit properly. Dunno if that also fixed the monitor bug we had.

Glitch 08-29-2012 07:27 AM

Gentleladies and Mentleton, a brand new Redpower, ComputerCraft, and Technology emporium is being built in your area! Projects made to measure! Lua code cut to order! Abundance of Exclamations! All this could be yours!

Havoc 08-29-2012 07:35 AM

Oh I would like custom Lua code at some point. I will keep you in mind, good sir.

Glitch 08-29-2012 07:41 AM

It might be good if you could enable the http api so that I would be able to download my LUA from pastebin. Just means I would be able to work a bit faster on it.

:

To enable it open [tekkit dir]/config/mod_ComputerCraft.cfg and change enableAPI_http=0 to enableAPI_http=1
Also, could you test to see if sensors are bugged? If you spawn one in from NEI and it doesn't crash your client everything is gravy.

Havoc 09-03-2012 07:14 AM

I'm considering installing the Forestry mod on the Tekkit server, since it was originally a part of Tekkit before it was removed because the author is uptight about people using his stuff or something.

It has some cool stuff in it like automated tree farming, several new engines, beekeeping, new sorts of food, new backpacks, new fuels and sending mail (letters).

Just wanted to know what you guys think about this. Installing it server side isn't a problem, but you also need to install it client side in your Tekkit jar file.

Check out the wiki for more information: http://forestry.sengir.net/wiki/index.php?action=home

beekeeping

Just in case STM missed it.

Wil 09-04-2012 03:05 AM

Forestry is going to be added to BuildCraft anyway, so it might cause some problems down the road if you add it now.

Hulaabeo 09-04-2012 03:14 AM

I really liked Thaumcraft from the Technic pack, it was really the only thing I was good at. Shame we can't add it to the server though. :L

Phylum 09-04-2012 03:29 AM

I never liked Thaumcraft. Alone I'm sure it's fine, but I really fonud it got in the way of my industrial endeavors.

I've actually learned a bit from the Yogscast recently, but the best way to get good at IC and Buildcraft is to just dive in and do things.

Wil 09-04-2012 04:03 AM

The problem I've found with Thaumcraft is that, despite playing many Technic Pack SSP worlds, I've only ever encountered the vis wasps. Never found any thaumic crystals.

When will it be added then?

Which series? I've been watching Duncan's Tekkit videos and they are helpful (though outdated) The main Tekkit series however isn't as helpful cause they just get side tracked and making a ridiculous storyline.

Havoc 09-04-2012 06:10 AM

Go watch all parts of this and become a better Tekkit player. Most of it still applies in todays version and new parts are still being made.

Hulaabeo 09-04-2012 12:51 PM

The Thaumcraft you folks were playing was the outdated (and crappy) Thaumcraft. They`ve updated it, now it has become awesome.

DarkHoodness 09-04-2012 02:32 PM

Just a heads up: Wireless redstone band 210 is now being used for automatic street lighting.

EDIT: Also after lighting up an entire road with these things, they look... Kinda crap when there are lots of them. Even if they function. I'll play around with their design later.

Havoc 09-09-2012 08:53 AM

I've done some more reading on the Forestry issue. Most of what I can find are rumors though. Rumors that it might be included with Buildcraft, rumors that Buildcraft in turn might not be included with Tekkit for that reason. And a Tekkit dev saying that Tekkit 3.1.2 worlds will probably NOT be compatible with Tekkit 3.2 when it comes out. This would mean starting a new world when it comes out, which is something I am not happy about or plan on doing.

So what I would like to do is install the 1.2.5 version of Forestry on the server now and see how things develop with Tekkit/Buildcraft/Forestry. I'll write up an easy to follow guide on installing Forestry in your client when/if I go ahead with this.

All those in favor say Ay!

DarkHoodness 09-09-2012 08:43 PM

I know it's an unofficial mod, but surely they wouldn't piss off that many people judging by the popularity of Tekkit?

Nothing seems to be set in stone just yet, I'd wait a little bit to see what happens before you require people to install extra mods and start using them and possibly make our world incompatible with future versions of Tekkit... Then if we definitely know that they're going to screw up with future versions of Tekkit in ways which make existing worlds incompatible, then we can start using custom mods. There's plenty of stuff to do in existing Tekkit for the time being, isn't there?

But then that's just my opinion.

Havoc 09-10-2012 12:18 AM

I suppose that's true.

The problem is that the author of the Forestry mod is some sort of douche who thinks he's better than anyone else. He has an attitude that I have never in my life understood, even though I see it all the time. I even made a blog post about it once.

He makes a great mod that is BASED on another popular mod (Buildcraft). He makes this as a fan for the fan community, releases this for the fan community, asks for feedback to the fan community. But when his mod is included with the biggest and most popular mod pack in Minecraft he suddenly starts whining and bitching that he never gave permissions and instead of requesting it to be taken out, he put in a piece of code that fucks up any player's world that uses his mod with the Technic launcher. In turn it was taken out of the package.

I just don't get what someone can possibly have against one's work being spread to as many people as possible. It's not like they pretended they made it themselves and didn't give him credit. Ugh, some people.

DarkHoodness 09-10-2012 12:48 AM

Uhm... Why have half the buildings been burned down in the original OWF server world? We do have a rollback plugin installed don't we?

EDIT: In fact, pretty much all the buildings in Ma'Spa have been vandalised in some way.

You did install logblock so we can find out who did it, didn't you?

Havoc 09-10-2012 12:52 AM

What the fuck?

Edit: All the grieving has been rolled back. There might be some doors, torches and signs that are not properly rolled back though.

Player Atomic_Goose has been banned as he is found to be behind all this for whatever reason. Does anyone know who this guy is again? I vaguely remember whitelisting him in the past though I dunno who he is.

DarkHoodness 09-10-2012 01:30 AM

That isn't his channel, he was featured in someone's video.

It seems that any item attached to a block that fell off because the block it was attached to was destroyed by fire or TNT wasn't logged. But nothing that isn't repairable if people still care enough about it though.

Thanks, Havoc.

Wil 09-10-2012 03:17 AM

What the hell? Don't suppose you grabbed any screenies of the damage?

Regarding the Forestry modder's attitude, it's annoying, but it's their stuff so whatever. It's the same reason the very awesome Better Than Wolves mod isn't part of the Technic Pack. At least, in Forestry's case, I think it's because the author disagrees with AdFly, which the Tekkit engineers use.

Havoc 09-10-2012 03:51 AM

Didn't take any screens, but just imagine Ma'spa after a fire and TNT spree, that's pretty much what it looked like. Thank god for roll backs.

Splat 09-10-2012 05:37 AM

Was it just the core Ma'Spa town or the wider area, too?
Also, if Edd's right, any effected redstone circuitry is going to be ruined?

Havoc 09-10-2012 05:57 AM

We only checked core Ma'spa town but I rolled back absolutely everything since the morning before the destruction happened. Couldn't say about redstone, it depends on how it's placed and how complex it is to be honest.

Crashpunk 09-11-2012 07:35 AM

Hmm.
