oh yeah MF Doom

and some great stuff

fucking great stuff.

Mr. Bungle 12-12-2013 10:14 AM

@Steamer hell yeah! Kid Cudi's earlier stuff is so so great. A Kid Named Cudi is one of my favourite mixtapes ever. So packed to the brim with quality. It's a shame Indicud was so... bland.

I'll always love this one.

Oh, and MF Doom kicks ass too, obviously.

Sometimes I wonder if there's a better hip-hop album than Madvillainy.

Still my favourite album of the year. Boards can do no wrong.

10/10 would buy their Christmas album.

Varrok 12-18-2013 05:32 AM

Good, but not great. Not angry enough.

On the other hand, that Dave's face in 1:12... awesome

Dynamithix 12-19-2013 11:52 AM

Sufjan Stevens, Serengeti and Son Lux in the same project, seems interesting.

Steamer_KING 12-19-2013 04:49 PM

LET'S GET SOME CHAOS UP IN THIS BITCH!!!

Bungle, Steamer, recognize this

I so love this beat

Mr. Bungle 01-03-2014 10:25 AM

Slip like Freudian, your first and last step to playin' yourself like accordion.

I've been absolutely obsessed with this album/band. Does anyone else here jam maudlin of the Well at all? I could see a few users enjoying their sound, or at least parts of it. They're kind of a progressive metal band, but calling them that is seriously selling them so short as they incorporate bits of death metal

new age / ambient

progressive rock / metal, plus big time classical and jazz influences on the band's playing. Pretty sure at least a few of them really know their shit when it comes to theory.

(for some reason I could picture WoF enjoying this one. maybe it's because the female vocals kinda make the song remind me of an anime I used to watch)

What makes it is so incredible is the fact that they can put together all these influences and styles into one monstrous and unique sound that flows beautifully from one song to the next without losing a hint of consistency or cohesion. Truly an incredible and groundbreaking band / album, maudlin's Bath. It's been completely mesmerizing me for a few weeks now and it's quickly climbed high into the ranks of my favourite albums. Also, it has guitar solos. Awesome ones.

MeechMunchie 01-03-2014 06:20 PM

Look, it's almost like me and Bungle had something in common.

(I like Harvey Danger, he likes BTMI)

Mr. Bungle 01-03-2014 11:58 PM

OH MY GOD SOMEONE OTHER THAN MYSELF POSTED BTMI I AM SO HAPPY

Maybe we could start a little independent repertory moviehouse or something.

MeechMunchie 01-04-2014 03:59 AM

Blame it on the television
Blame it on the company
Don't blame it on the fundamental fact that no-one owes you something

I'm just glad HD actually have a legacy. It's easy to feel like you're the only one who was ever influenced by their music.

Mr. Bungle 01-04-2014 04:38 AM

I've never actually listened to Harvey Danger before but they must be good if Jeff Rosenstock (BTMI!) is a fan. But wait, which version of that song came first? Damn. I always assumed BTMI!, but it's pretty different from most of their songs so maybe it's a cover.

MeechMunchie 01-04-2014 09:55 AM

Harvey Danger version is the original. I can see a certain resemblance between the bands, though.

BANG BANG BANG BANG

BWEEOOOOOO

Mr. Bungle 01-07-2014 03:00 AM

Wait, didn't they do the Peep Show theme song? I love that song.

Dynamithix 01-07-2014 05:25 AM

New Chromeo and it's funky as ever, I love this.

Wait, didn't they do the Peep Show theme song? I love that song.

Put me in the hospital for nerves and then they had to commit me
You told them all I was crazy
They cut off my legs, now I'm an amputee
God damn you

Paranoia, paranoia
Everybody's comin' to get me
Just say you never met me
I'm runnin' underground with the moles
Diggin' holes

This is why they were largely dismissed as a one-hit wonder.

Hell yeah man. Funny thing, I actually know, or rather listen to, Daedelus way long before I discovered Madlib and MF Doom, so it was a great surprise when I listened to Madvillain's "Accordion".

My favourite Pete Rock beat, apart from "T.R.O.Y." is this:

Imma going to check maudlin of the Well, Bungle boy.

Here's my latest looptunes:

Fuck yes. You'll love them. Just don't expect to be into it right away. Bath took a long time to click for me and it's one of my favourite albums now. Just have patience and you'll be rewarded, big time.

MeechMunchie 01-07-2014 11:39 AM

Did I mention Harvey Danger's last/best two albums are free to download (plus their breakup single)?

whoever gets what this song is about deserves a gold star the size of Venus. breaks my fucking heart in all sincerity.

Mr. Bungle 01-09-2014 03:07 AM

I dunno what it's about but I do know that Kate is awesome and that Hounds is a classic album. Great jam. I just assumed it was some kinda heart break tune... it's such an emotional piece. Gets my feels all riled towards the end.

And while we're on the subject of female vocalists over symphonic prog-rock (and feels):

AND NOBODY WAS THEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERE

What a fucking song. Simply epic.

the son of Wilhelm Reich (Cloudbuster) wrote a book called A Book Of Dreams after his father died in prison, which is what the song is based on.

also nice tune.

Dynamithix 01-09-2014 09:20 AM

So Odd Future's Earl Sweatshirt announced a world tour (or wEARLd tour as he calls it) and he's coming to Finland, I'm definitely going.

This beat starts so harsh, it's so beast.

Mr. Bungle 01-10-2014 05:45 AM

Run the Jewels was so dope. Not sure if I liked it more than Yeezus as far as rap releases from last year go. Think I listened to Yeezus more, though.

Ugh best song ever. If anyone listens to it and likes it, download the album here. It's not piracy, that's a link to BTMI!'s web page.

Dynamithix 01-10-2014 06:12 AM

Miles better than Yeezus. I mean, I've listened to Yeezus more but the more I listened to it the more I started to get annoyed by the autotune moaning shit that goes on in almost every song on it. Run The Jewels was definitely one of the best hip hop releases 2013.

Oh yeah and bungle download that Flatbush Zombies mixtape, it's too good.

OddjobAbe 01-10-2014 04:26 PM

"Miles better than Yeezus":

Definitely.

Dynamithix 01-12-2014 07:36 AM
