The 50th was great, although it seemed insanely rushed, but then again, all of series 7 did. I'm disappointed that it wasn't longer though, I think 100 minutes would have sufficed.
Also Tom fucking Baker, so much yes. |

Also, not the majority. Or even a large minority.

People in American and other countries love Dr. Who. Can we just leave it as that?
|
You're antagonizing OANST.
Keep up the good work, Crashpunk |

For someone who doesn't like Dr Who, you suuuuuuure do like talking about it OANST.

Whateeeeever you say.
Disclaimer: I think Dr Who is meh. |
Every thread now should just be called. "Thread for OANST to Antagonize everyone and everything."
|
Suddenly, everything OANST will say will be on-topic
|
Or we could just keep this thread for discussing Doctor Who, and OANST could go be not funny somewhere else.
Pfft, like that would happen. |

MA said the forbidden word
Shame on you MA |
Isn't the forbidden word bestiality?
I mean, I don't want to turn this into a bestial bestiality thread for zoophiles especially now google knows we exist again and it would be bad for us to be indexed as a bestiality forum for bestiality but surely it's more the act of fucking horses/ponies AKA bestiality we shouldn't speak of. |
Surely you mean zoophilia forum zoophilia forum zoophilia forum zoophilia forum zoophilia forum zoophilia forum zoophilia forum

Everyone posrep Slog Bait for pointing out very explicitly what we are not.

Gross!
Well, I loved the 50th anniversary. I'm not sure I'll like the new doctor when he comes around because I love Matt Smith, but the last series as a whole was great! |
I watch The Five(ish) Doctors Reboot last night. It was brilliant. I'm impressed that they got Peter Jackson and Ian Mckellan in on it.

:
As for his series. I disliked quite a lot of episodes if I'm honest. It was just the writing style I didn't like, for example, how it went into the action right at the start. I like some build up. |

Did anyone see the historical drama about Doctor Who and William Hartnell?
|
An Adventure In Space And Time? Yeah I saw that thing
|
I didn't realise he enjoyed being the Doctor so much.
|
He was the only cast member who believed Doctor Who would last.
|

|
Oh for fucks sake I swore I wouldn't cry like I did last time.

Needs less fairy tale bollocks.
Maybe the new season will be more gritty. Also simpler, call me thick but I had no idea what was going on half the time. |
You're seriously saying that series 7 wasn't gritty? Sure, Moffat had a load of fairy-tale esque bollocks but that's his speciality (maybe thats why all his christmas episodes are horrible), but there was also lots of horror. Specifically, Crimson. That was a great gritty episode.
I do hope that the new series will be less childish, maybe an older Doctor will help that. |
It just didn't seem to stand out as particularly amazing. I just wish they would be consistent with the actual danger different aliens pose. One minute Daleks are terrifying, the next you can kill them by the bucket load, one moment you blow up a planet if you see one cyberman and then they drop like flies. Oh and you can have the head of one as a pet.
|
No it wasn't amazing, it was a piss-poor episode, but consistency with the monsters is and was never an issue. Daleks are terrifying when you have no guns, and the head of the Cyberman, if you were listening was cleared out.
And what's the difference between them dropping like flies and blowing up a planet? They were a threat, so they must be eliminated by any means necessary. If you have better weapons which can kill them why blow up a planet? |
Daleks are supposed to be scary full stop, the whole 'four daleks is enough to destroy the world,' thing that the Cult of Skaro played on, those four were just as dangerous as an entire fleet. The cybermen are supposed to upgrade whenever they encounter a new danger which was supposed to be the big new twist that actually made them an enemy you don't laugh at but they still were absolutely shit today.

I didn't watch it. But I heard it was very anti-climatic.
|
It wasn't terrible, but it was just pretty boring and average. Wasn't exactly The Parting of the Ways.
|
It was corny and lame in a way that I can forgive it for because it was a Christmas episode. It was different from a regular episode, and it tied up all of the stupid shit from the last few seasons. I was glad to see Smith take his death better than Tennant did. It still dragged on a bit, but in a much more forgivable way. I'm keen to see a new Doctor in action, because honestly Smith was just Tennant again.
I watched the 50th today too. It wasn't perfect, but it was a hell of a lot better than anything else Moffat has written recently. He can do amazing things with that extra time. I liked the way they played with the younger Doctor seeming older, and they really did a good job of pulling gravity into Hurt's decision. There was definitely some fanservice in there, but the bits that were actually contributing to the episode where generally really well done. The scenes in the gallery with the statues were scary and the premise of the monsters was pretty good. I feel like that subplot needed to be there, even if it was totally forgotten by the end of the episode. I was ready for the 3 Doctors to push the button and destroy everything, erasing Moffat and Tennant, and leaving Hurt to regenerate into the new guy. I've liked Clara, but my god she was asking for a slap when she opened her big mouth in there. The ending could have been more dramatic, and the conclusion didn't totally make sense. Also, what was up with the Doctor aging so much in 300 years in the Christmas episode? Wasn't there 400 between the start and end of the last season? /essay Sorry guys, I'm bored. |
