Wings of Fire 11-08-2012 08:03 AM

From what I've heard of Halo 4's story from Strike Witch, it sounds awful and cliche as fuck.

Mac Sirloin 11-08-2012 08:15 AM

ODST is still my favourite. It had a great atmosphere and the little tweaks (night vision, health packs) made it the ideal Halo game for my taste. I actually felt immersed in the universe whereas before it was just 'You're a walking tank with infinite lives uh oh aliens W+M1'.
ODST, Halo 2+Halo 3, CE, Reach.

I loved the map builder in reach, though. Hopefully Forge makes a return.

I've been playing some Doom. Nothing beats Doom.

Monster Hunter Tri is a very different...monster compared to Freedom Unite and Poirtable 3rd (which is a port of Tri). Both of those are for the PSP and start you out with one of every type of weapon (the weakest starting weapons possible) and immediately throw you into the 'choose a mission' mechanic. Not so with Tri. in Tri, you start out with one extremely weak sword and spend a good 3 hours doing bullshit that doesn't let you improve it. The box implies that you can 'start out however you want, experienced or not' but that is an outright lie. No matter what you have to do a lot of tedious non-monster hunting things. The farm fucking blows ass in this version, too. Gone are the days where you could plant crops, go on a mission, get 8-10 more of those crops upon completing the mission rinse and repeat. Now you can only plant one area of the farm at a time and completing a mission yields 1-3 items with MAYBE one of them being a clone of your original crop. It's frustrating, slow, boring, tedious, uninteresting, unfulfilling and just fucking bizarre given the amazing structure that the PSP games seem to have.

In summary Capcom blows.

This is the worst Halo power rankings list I have ever seen.

You’re the worst Halo power ranking list I’ve ever seen.

There’s a few things I love about the Halo series that very few games in the FPS genre bother with.

The world—the backstory, the environments, the mystery, the various species and their histories—feels much more interesting than most others’ (especially since most are set in “faux middle-east” land); the physics feels meaty and yet fun and free; the tone of the game and is morose and melancholy and the accompanying soundtrack only adds to the feeling. The whole package feels both more fun and more intriguing than most other FPSes.

You are such a sourpuss.

I just think they're great multiplayer games. Other than that, bleh.

I really do, though. I thought all of those things were terrible.

Hazel-Rah 11-08-2012 01:58 PM

I love Halo 4! The weapons are so punchy and satisfying to use and the Prometheans are fun as hell to kill. I love having to take out the Watchers before the Knights and Crawlers, it makes the combat feel frantic and challenging.

I do hope they expand on the Prometheans in future games though. I don't think they're as versatile as the Covenant as an antagonist, their weapons are fun as fuck but they don't have any vehicles to add to the sandbox.

Halo 2 is still my favorite and always will be.

Mr. Bungle 11-08-2012 02:56 PM

Halo 2 was great because OMG DUAL WIELDING. I thought the campaign was pretty fun too.

Nate 11-08-2012 09:28 PM

Can someone please go make a Halo 4 thread? I would split the posts off from this thread, but there are just a few too many in which people discussed both Halo and other games and it's too much effort to split everything cleanly apart.

Steamer_KING 11-10-2012 05:40 AM

Hitman: Absolution, has anyone played that yet? The sniper challenge and whatnot...

Mac Sirloin 11-10-2012 09:37 AM

I'm playing Doom 3 on my PC. It can get scary when you've been playing it for awhile in the dark with headphones on. Other than that it's kind of boring. I never noticed how terrible some of the voice acting was before.

Mr. Bungle 11-11-2012 10:38 AM

I was playing Skyrim with my bud yesterday. Started a Khajiit. Their claws fucking decimate bitches. Love being a thieving little cat.

MeechMunchie 11-11-2012 10:55 AM

Finished (to the credits, and I don't really feel like carrying on right now) Pokémon White. Team:

That's the best Pokémon game I've ever played. Out of, y'know, all two of them.

Wings of Fire 11-11-2012 10:58 AM

N is so hnnngh

MeechMunchie 11-11-2012 11:32 AM

Arousing?

Wings of Fire 11-11-2012 01:19 PM

I wouldn't say arousing. Well, kinda but more adorable.

I loved how massively awkward the ferris wheel scene was. I always play as a girl, so it looked like he was clumsily coming on to me.

I have yet to see a girl holding a cat that way

Attempting a Dark Souls playthrough as a Thief without changing weapons and armour, and not leveling up or converting to human form or kindling bonfires.

Currently on the Bell Gargoyles, they pretty much one-hit me. It's pretty hard.

Phylum 11-11-2012 10:18 PM

Still no word on when I'm getting my PC back from The Guy, so I busted out The Binding of Isaac on my Mac. I just finished my second mom kill in The Womb. I was a bit worried about only having one heart left from devil deals, but Brimstone, Dead Cat and Brother Bobby are really worth it.

By the end I had 'lil Steven, Cube of Meat x2, Brother Bobby, Dead Cat and Forever Alone following me around. It was really hard to see what was going on. I also had lots of money and keys because I had Sperlunky.

Mom dropped really easily, though. Brimstone just destroyed anything she summoned instantly. I didn't take a hit, but I didn't get Sheol. Is it even possible with only one kill?

I think I prefer Cain's speed and Luck Foot to Judas' power and the Book of Belial. Being able to guarantee bonuses from pills is almost justification enough.

I'm wanting Wrath of the Lamb now.

Ridg3 11-11-2012 11:25 PM

Because of all the talk of GTA:SA I've started playing that again. Love that game, seriously, and I'm playing it with cheats because everyone knows that that's the best way to have fun in it. Floating cars is pretty hilarious, I spent half my time slightly bumping into police, trash trucks and tanks to watch them float away ever so nicely.

Looking to get a controller for the PC sometimes at the end of the month so I can get ripped into Dark Souls and get stuck into the DLC. Can't wait to see what horrors lurk in Ye Olde Darkroot basin, that is, if I'm up to scratch to kill the Sanctuary Guardian. I'm prepared to die and I'm prepared to take out any motherfucker who happens to be around me whenever I die for the 567200th time.

So I'm not the only one. :D The cheats really do make the game more enjoyable; I love the flying cars cheat, It makes it so much easier to navigate through the game without having to spawn in a Hydro or a Helicopter. Plus a flying car is pretty funny, I used to fly around in a taxi pretending to be in Fifth Element.

Mr. Bungle 11-12-2012 06:22 AM

Got my xbox back from my cousin last night. Finally gonna play Stranger's Wrath whenever I get off my ass and set it up.

Ohh man, do I love cheating in SA. I mean, I love playing the story, but the cheats are simply where its at. My friend and I would spent so much time just fucking around with flying cars, planes and trains. God I miss that games sometimes.

Well shit, I had a crack at SA over the weekend as well! My first time really playing it despite having it on Steam since forever.

I also started playing the first Mass Effect yesterday, too. I dunno if I’m approaching it wrong or something though because nothing has yet managed to endear me to it at all. Gonna take another shot at it soon but I’m just not feeling it.

Nepsotic 11-12-2012 09:59 AM

Same, my brother thinks it's one of the greatest games ever, but I just got bored of it.

Vyrien 11-12-2012 02:45 PM

Yeah, I'd attribute it to nostalgia, I preferred GTA3 for the same reason.

Currently I'm playing Doom 3 BFG. It's okay so far but the graphics look a bit patchy.

Mac Sirloin 11-12-2012 10:02 PM

GTA games are all overhyped, unfun, boring, uninteresting, sloppily written, lazily constructed drek that is supposed to appeal to this fictional 'good taste bone' that gaymerz decided they developed because they're always bland outcasts lurching around the fringes of society without any idea what makes a good crime story. Furthermore, Rockstar started enacting brain controls and poison gas sprays that are released in constant spore clouds each time you turn on a system with one of their games in it that gives you bone cancer and saps your brainthoughts out through your nose when you sneeze at the highly noxious spores. Ticks and mites breed in your nasal cavity and infest your vocal chords into nasally impotent fringes squealing out combinations of curse words that are the only trigger that a fellow gammer's brain can process and deliver a response to. Eventually you're just a heaving, swearing pus sack with two fleshy claws extending from the skinmass to hold a controller or lay on a keyboard.

That's what I think of your 'Fun game' that you 'enjoy playing', idiots.

Nepsotic 11-12-2012 10:06 PM

Rockstar have never made a bad game.

Mac Sirloin 11-12-2012 10:18 PM

Yo You need to stop saying deliberately silly things before I drop in from a military helicopter and slap your face with my giant handsome wallet, dog.

Mr. Bungle 11-12-2012 10:25 PM

Someone woke up on the right side of grouchy.

GTA is harmless, mindless fun. If you use cheats. Otherwise they can be pretty boring, but I think you're being a little harsh on GTA and their fans., Mac. They're not all idiots - just most of them.

I'm not being harsh or non-serious at all. In fact what I said now goes DOUBLE 200% because I think that's how arguments work. HUH? WHAT NOW BUD?!? WHAT NOW? STEP OFF. STEP AWAYYY.

Crashpunk 11-13-2012 02:10 AM

Just because you don't like it, doesn't mean we're idiots. Opinions maaan.

Phylum 11-13-2012 02:16 AM

I partly agree with some of the stuff Mac said, but he can't deny that the games are fun. Some of my fondest gaming memories from the last few years are of dicking around in SA/IV with my friends.

Varrok 11-13-2012 02:47 AM

I agree with Phylum. These games aren't really good, but they're fun. Usually not the kind of fun the devs intended though

Strike Witch 11-13-2012 03:29 AM

GTA is a fun series to rent.

But I wouldn't spend enough money on it to buy it.

Crashpunk 11-13-2012 04:30 AM

Yeah I wouldn't go out and buy a GTA game new. But I don't have to because I got every GTA game in a package on Steam for £6 during the sales :tard:

Jordan 11-13-2012 08:17 AM

I have a question to any Metal Gear fans. I haven't actually played any of the games properly (and recently) and would like to try the series, does anyone have any ideas which game would be best to start with? Ideally I'd like to start with the first one but it seems to be a little more expensive than the sequels and I'd hate to buy it then find out I don't like it.
