Yeah, RE: ORC is fucking shit, my friend bought it and he said it was the biggest letdown ever. Short story, crap endings and the stupidest AI ever.
|
Crapcom strikes again. It looked like shit from the start, especially since Crapcom hired a studio that specialized in PSP games.
|
I usually love everything Capcom touches, but not this time. Whatever. Still have high hopes for Resident Evil 6.
|
I would be excited for RE6 if I knew whether or not they are going to shove forced co-op down our throats like RE5.

Might as well trade it in now while it's at its full value. It really is shit, and if you're a die hard RE fan you'll be disappointed.
My friend who's been playing RE since PS1 era hated it, and he's something of a fanboy. But of course, you might end up liking it. Just seems unlikely |
I just watched some trailers for RE:ORC. How could they get it so unbelievably fucking wrong? Doing an RE game right doesn't seem all that difficult, but what a complete fucking mess it looks like. RE6 looks like everything wrong with the series, too.

EDIT: Whups, wrong thread (Damn you Scrabface).
|
I liked Umbrella Chronicles. Dunno about the other games, survival horror isn't really my bag.
|
Playing Dead Island.
|
Bought myself Rayman Origins for Wii today with my Birthday money so I'll be playing that mostly now.
|
I finished Journey.
Walking through that blizzard for so long made that ending feel so satisfying. I don't have a fucking clue what it meant, but I'm keen to pay back through it to find out. I'm really disappointing that my internet connection dropped out right before you die in the snow. That last area would have been so much more fun with two. |
:
but it's not a total disaster either. plot is just lame and doesn't make much sense. the gameplay is repetitive. I don't care about the characters at all, especially about the annoying ones from the side quests. so there's no real drive to play the game. shame, could have been a good game. |
Me and the boyfriend started Final Fantasy XIV Online. It's very different to any MMO I've ever played, and so far we're really enjoying it. IT'S SO PRETTY I WISH I HAD THE BEST PC EVER
|
I beat Duke Nukem Forever. I thought it was decent. It could have been a lot worse (or a lot better) but it definitely wasn't as bad as critics made it out to be. I liked the bossfights even though they were a bit frustrating but that's probably because I played it through on the hard difficulty.
I thought it was nice that the game doesn't take anything seriously (they even mock the game's limit of two weapons). |

I just bought Audio Surf. The songs I have are from the Moving Pictures album by Rush, the Dark Side of the Moon album by Pink Floyd, and the midi files that come with Windows that I converted in to .ogg files.

They only focused on how bad the character was. The only other thing they complained about was the graphics (as if that fucking matters in the way of gameplay), I really hate the fact that they pointed out the flaws in the character that of which actually IS what the character was loved for. In other words: They gave a shitty review about it like it was out of fashion, they don't care about the game and only focused on the character of Duke Nukem and how he was too "immature" as a character and that he's some sort of uber rapist even though those chicks looked legit :tard: I liked the game, the game was great and fuck what any hater thinks. I love it for what the game was and is and not for just the character, they shouldn't JUST point out the flaws and then make some obscene review about the character..... It's bullshit in my case. NOTE: They also pointed out how the controls were from 2002 for some fucked up reason. |
'They' being everyone who didn't share the same opinion as you?
Uh-huh... |
'They' as in critics who made reviews of the game I assume.
|
Played Crash Bash the other day with my mates. That game is one of the best party games ever. It's so much fun throwing blocks at each other and knocking each other off slabs of ice whilst riding a polar bear. Yep. Mind blowing concepts for mini-games :P
And like I said I bought Rayman Origins and for what I've played of with (I've just started World 3) It is fantastic. One of the best platformers I have ever played and the references to Rayman 1 are awesome. |
I picked up Ys: Oath of Felghana on Steam.
It's a pretty average JRPG story. Red-headed hero Adol the Red and his trusty companion Dogi return to Dogi's homeland of Felghana to find monsters roaming the land and a tyrannical count plotting some sort of evil involving ancient statues that are full of malevolent power. After getting involved in saving a young girl named Elena from some monsters, Adol and Dogi decide to save the land from disaster! etc etc The story is pretty quaint, but it all changes once you hit the gameplay. I guess the best way to describe it is hack and slash strapped to a jet engine- your character zooms through levels swinging his sword like nutjob, going through enemies like an Australian goes through booze. It's just killkillkillkillkillkillkillkillkillkillkillkill, and the fact that enemies literally explode into chunks upon death makes it even more crazy and satisfying. And the bosses, the bosses are actually challenging too. They have complex patterns you have to adapt to and some really clever strategies, though some were bordering on ridiculous. There's also a bunch of puzzle solving with magical bracelets and exploration, and it has an awesome soundtrack. So yeah, Ys. Simple plot, fun gameplay, good music, and it's very long. Lots of achievements and difficulty levels too. |
I just beat Uncharted 3.
It was more scripted and easier than Uncharted 2 but I really loved the chapter that took place on that ocean liner and the Syria and Yemen levels were an awesome change of scenery for the franchise. The difficulty in the game was kind of inconsistent where it was mostly too easy except for a few really annoying parts like the part where you are pinned against a stage on the ship and there are snipers on the ledges and destroying those jeeps in the sandstorm. But it was a fun challenge and nothing seemed unfair. |
:
if the story is not the main drive in such a linear game, what is it then? |
Oh I agree there were very few puzzles in this one.
As far as plot goes the part that bugged me the most was when you find out that Sully was alive and was like '...you drank from the fountain and started freaking out' I mean why didn't Sully stay with Drake then? Why did he go off and hide in some random place instead of trying to help him snap out of it like they did with that bald guy. |
I finished Ys. Really great game, and you can make adjust the difficulty level a lot so it's both accessible and challenging.
|
In Anor Londo now, speaking mostly to Dyna here, and Ornstein/Smough are the biggest dickheads in the world. I mean they seriously are arseholes.
I had to leave Anor Londo, run back through Sens Fortress, go to Darkroot Garden and shit on some fuckers head to boost my soul level. Yes, I'm a dirty soul farmer. Any hints from anybody on how to shove Smough's hammer right up Ornstein's arse? |
Well, if you want Ornstein's armour and weapon, it's going to be a bit harder because after you kill one, the one that's left, in this case Smough, will turn into a stronger form and has more powerful attacks. On my first playthrough, I beat Smough first and then Ornstein, I thought that was a bit easier.
But yeah, they're pretty much the hardest boss fight in the game so once you're over that, you can kill pretty much every other boss in the game no trouble. Protip: Their weakness is fire and if you need to heal/use sorceries, go to cover behind the pillars. Even Smough can't usually ram you through the pillars (even if they're broken already). Also, don't put much levels to Resistance, that's pretty much the useless skill in the game as certain armours cover its purpose. What kind of a character do you have? |
A shitty character that my missus uses and that's the profile I'm using at the minute.
I'm (she's) a level 65 thief. Oh, and she used my boss souls I was saving, so Quelaag's Furysword is out of the question unfortunately. FOr the life of me I can't mind what my current armor set is at the minute but I'm certain that it's medium weight. And the weapons/shield is the Drake Sword + 4 and the Eagle shield... I should upgrade that. |
:
Well, next playthrough make sure she (or you) doesn't use Quelaag's, Sif's or Gwyn's soul. Those are the most useful ones I'd say. :
:
You might have already realized this, but even if the drake sword was overpowered/really good at the start of the game, it just isn't going to cut it anymore so I'd say hunt down a few black knights if you know there are some that you haven't killed and hope for a Black Knight Sword drop. Then upgrade that beast of a weapon to +5 and use it for the rest of the game. That's what I still use in NG+. All this talk of Dark Souls is making me want to play it now... |
Starting playing through Banjo-Tooie again the other day. Currently on Glitter Gulch mine.
I can still safely say this is my favourite game ever. |
I got Soul Calibur V in the mail today. Made a little unboxing video of it too. I'm now in the 18th episode in the story, I think I'm actually near the end already but yeah, it's pretty fun.
One bad thing is that I haven't played any SC games before so the controls and the special moves are really hard to get used to. So far mashing buttons and learning a few combos has been enough. :p |
Sequence.
As a port, it's got a few couple of lingering console elements, but I'm enjoying it so far. |
Someone convince me to play through Morrowind fully. I have the game for xbox right next to me and for some reason I can just never get into it, despite wanting to and loving all the recent Elder Scrolls and Fallout games.
|
Morrowind... for XBOX? Jesus, that must be a torture. Don't.
|
:
:
IF you don't play it, who will? |
:
...wait, you can mod XBOX version? Then I'm taking back that thing about torture. |
I'll play it.
Bungle, you should play it because it was the last true Elder Scrolls game - a game that fit its own unique mythology and no-one else's. No Tolkien crap, just a vague Warhammer fantasy influence, combined with massive Eastern European/Ancient Chinese spliceage. Giant mushrooms. Pterodactyls. Scaly wolves with mosquito heads. Transformer-maggot colonies. Arid shrubland. Random ash storms. A soundtrack which is all harp and cellos. "Sleepers", plagued by visions so disturbing that they've torn a cavity where their eyes used to be. It was weird, you felt like an outsider (YOU N'WAH!), and no-one told you what you had to do. You were an adventurer, a stranger in a strange land. But you already know that (hence the shrinking). Why should you complete Morrowind? Because it has something neither Skyrim nor Oblivion had. A PLOT. And it's not a plot about being a hero, which is usually "X threatens our way of life, you must destroy X". Morrowind is a tale of love, honour, betrayal and conspiracy, and you will discover multiple shady connections between the people you were working for and the people you're fighting against, plus genuine revelations on the nature of your character. If you want to be a beloved hero, Morrowind isn't the game for you. You're a symbol of blasphemy, a reluctant antichrist, and the best you can achieve is a complete retraction of the legend that made you prophecised. The way of life that you would be preserving is corrupt, and the X you would be destroying is a fragment of a far more honest time. I really can't recommend the PC version enough, though. It'll run on anything, and if you didn't play it when it was new, you'll need a good few mods to make it acceptable to your spoilt Skyrim eyes. On Steam, the Gotye Edition* is £12.99, but Bethesda games go on sale at least a couple of times a year if you want to wait. GOTY includes Tribunal and Bloodmoon, two proper expansion packs, adding about an extra 16% of content each. Both include their own main quests, with Bloodmoon catering to fans of gameplay with puzzles, raid missions, and a new sprawling island full of secrets and werewolves, and Tribunal catering to fans of the atmosphere with a new, massive (by Morrowind standards... about Imperial City size) city full of new activities and funky architecture, plus another twisty conspiracy story. This one has a faster pace, concentrated content, less wandering, and explosions. It was a direct response to what people complained about in Morrowind. Also see: my other 36+ posts on Morrowind. EDIT: Link expired. Search for posts by MeechMunchie about Morrowind. There are plenty more rambles there. *lol |
