Bullet Magnet 09-06-2010 11:35 AM

The size of Oddworld makes not the slightest bit of difference to the visibility of a moon. Only whether the orbit is geostationary, which is unlikely. It would have to be almost as big as Oddworld itself for the two bodies to become to become tidally locked to each other, and that raises significant problems for life, as well as the presence of any other moons.

STM 09-07-2010 09:40 AM

well, the distance of the moon and the orbit can affect visualisation, IO is not viewable in every position of Jupiter for example

MuMI 09-07-2010 11:12 AM

Question: Why any mudokon ever saw they're handprint on the moon?

EDIT: Also I heard there were two versions of AO - One in which mudokons have 4 fingers and the other in which they have 3 fingers. Is this true?

EDIT 2: Plus, where is this footage from? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jFE8duH8JOg

Yes. Japan didn't approve of Abe having four fingers, since many people in Japan lost a finger while meat packing, and the entire "meat packing subclass" is now considered an insult. So Japan didn't like Abe having four fingers, and now in later versions, Abe has three fingers, so Japan is no longer insulted.

MuMI 09-07-2010 03:48 PM

Great, thanks!

Does anybody else knows the answer to my other questions?

What are you asking?

EDIT 2: Plus, where is this footage from? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jFE8duH8JOg

It was one of the videos OWI made when they were designing what the gameplay of MO should be like.

What are you asking?

The moon was already there when Abe first saw it with his hand, so why didn't any mudokon saw they're hand on the moon before?

enchilado 09-08-2010 08:47 AM

Other Mudokons had. But it was the first time Abe saw it.

MuMI 09-08-2010 08:49 AM

oh, ok.

Thanks guys!

Images/Screenshots of SLOGS please

Hi, can I ask for screenshots of slogs, images of slogs.. other than the ones in the oddworld image library because obviously I can already get them. I'm desparately needing a slog in a neutral pose (ie. not sleeping, not walking, not running, not barking.) But I want the walking, running, sleeping, barking pictures too (just not as important).

Help much appreciated :)

Paul 09-09-2010 12:49 PM

What sort of images? If its any use my decoder app will get all sprites for slogs?

Splat 09-09-2010 01:40 PM

Wrong forum.

Wrong thread.

More specifically, the moon has played a huge role in the history of Oddworld because of the way Mudokons reacted to seeing it for the first time millennia ago. Taking it as an omen that they were the Chosen Race (whatever that means), the Muds incited jealousy from the Glukkons... to put it mildly. All these years later and the animosity has survived.

Does anyone know paramite pie recipes?

Bullet Magnet 09-12-2010 11:34 AM

YO MA, GET THE SPRAY! WE GOT ANOTHER ONE OVER HERE!

Nate 09-13-2010 05:59 AM

How about you go capture a Paramite and then we'll share our recipes with you?

Paramite meat + Hot water + Stock of your choice + Pastry + Pie dish + Oven.

Bart 09-14-2010 01:07 PM

I have a question...in Munch's Oddysee, why don't Abe and Munch fall back into the Big Well when they fall from Vykkers' Labs? *hits button to the -right of ↓
................................................................._*

Nate 09-14-2010 06:37 PM

Because Abe hits the underside of Vykker's Labs, holds on and they both get carried away elsewhere. The Labs were moving at the time, after all.

Bart 09-14-2010 06:41 PM

OK, just seems a bit unlikely that the Raisin could foresee the fact that Abe and the labs would arrive there at the same time.

No. If only 100% known topics were discussed in OD, then due to the lack of activity, the forum could just as well be renamed to OddChan.

STM 09-15-2010 08:41 AM

You know what would be good, if you didn't double post just their. See. What you did?

Please stop trying to be a mod, Scrabtrapman.

Also, telling off members who have already been permabanned may have limited long-term benefit.

psycoman27 09-15-2010 10:01 PM

Is there any background information on Big Face?

It'll have even less effect on MS1029.

STM 09-16-2010 09:47 AM

Sorry, just trying to help, didn't know he was a pre-offender.

I do have a question though, ya know the slap bombs, why are they used so sparingly in the game? Rather pointless are they not?

Wil 09-16-2010 09:52 AM

Maybe they came up with it but then found so few places to use it, but thought they might as well keep it in the places it was already used.

Is there any background information on Big Face?

He's the Mudokons' leading shaman, and knows much of Abe's fate. He's called BigFace because of his mask. The Muds see him as something of a spiritual leader.

That's about it. They wouldn't make him wear a mask if he wasn't supposed to be mysterious.

Phylum 09-17-2010 12:16 AM

I believe Alf said something about Bigface wearing a mask to cover up his big head. Something like that, at least.

STM 09-17-2010 01:41 AM

But I read he has a normal face underneath his ask. Damn Alf

MeechMunchie 09-20-2010 12:56 PM

I belive that is known in some places as 'a joke'.

just_an_(ODD)alisque 09-21-2010 07:07 AM

Why are blind mudokons white? How do they become white? And if it's because their eyes are stiched, than is Abe blue because his lips are stitched?

STM 09-21-2010 10:06 AM

I believe it's simply because as miners, they live in an environment devoid of sunlight, not to do with physical stitching.

psycoman27 09-22-2010 11:31 PM

I saw in the forum events that Citizen Siege was having an event here in 2020, is that really it's release date? Are they just screwing with us? (Either Oddworld or the mods), or is that the time the film is set? (Sorry, haven't looked up much on the film/game counterpart.)

But the other non-blind mudokons that also work in the mines aren't white.

Also, I have a question. Since the Glukkons have really small legs and have to walk on their hands, why don't they just mechanically extend their legs like the sligs? It would be a lot easier for them and if the sligs deserve to use their arms and legs, why don't the glukkons?

From Dear Alf
:

Q: If the Glukkons (or Sligs) can make pants for the Sligs, then why don't they make pants for themselves?

Alf: Please! No self-respecting Glukkon would be caught dead tottering about on a gauche set of mechanical legs!

psycoman27 09-23-2010 12:00 AM

That explains why the Abe's Exoddus 11th anniversary has no date other than September.

Hmmm... no questions have been posted in a while. I guess I'll post one.

Was there ever a picture of the Meech? I know that cut up one was in AO, but is there a full drawing that anyone besides Oddworld Inhabitants has access to?

Nate 09-23-2010 12:59 AM

Cut up one? What are you talking about?

The only image we have (other than the Meech Munchie poster) is this: http://oddworldlibrary.net/archives/...O/CAAO0137.jpg

The cut up one in the poster for Meech Munchies in AO is what I was referring to. I do believe it looked cut up, at least that's what I saw in the poster.

And Woah! That's way different that I thought it would look! Thanks!
