Hey, i have a question... well, that's obvious. But do you think that OWI would be willing to take inspiration for their creatures from others?? Cuz they're RELLY loosing their touch.
And when will Munch's exodus come out???? After Steef, or after some more games??? What is the EXACT order?? |
It seems there is no order, where there was when Abe's Oddysee came out. Seeing as they are using the same engine for Stranger for the next game (Lorne Lanning mentioned it), and seeing how Stranger includes shooting, Munch's Exoddus (a game I'd say wouldn't include shooting) might not come out for a while.
Instead we might see other Stranger-like games :) Alcar... |
I'd always imagined Munch's Exoddus would be the game to follow Stranger. I don't see that the engine has anything to do with it: ME might not include shooting, but then surely OWI just don't include any protocols to initiate a shooting mode in that game. :p Whatever, I'm not expert. I wouldn't want to abandon the Quintology for long, although I fully expect to the Stranger in future games.
As for submitting your work to OWI, there is no way they can take aboard your ideas without you being properly employed by them. Indeed, I know of several cases where they have said they simply cannot view certain fan art or media due to legal reasons. Some money-grubber even took the Inhabitants to court for incorporating his idea of giving the Mudokons more emotion and character in AE*, and since then OWI have compeltely understandably been wary about fans submitting work. But having seen everything Shell Man has scanned in from the Polygon magazine, I'm convinced Oddworld have certainly not wandered from their path. Certain characters I still regard as not having as much merit as I might previously expected Oddworld to come up with, but really, I'm not worried about it anymore. * That story has doubtlessly developed over time and from person to person, so don't take it as written. |

Rupture Farms
Pew! I finnaly made it to the end of this long topic!
So here are the questions: 1. Why (in AE) is Rupture Farms concidert destroyed? It was only shut down by Abe, a simple switch of a lever would re-activate the intire factory. 2. In adition to the above, why doesnt any Glukkon attemt to reactivate rupture farms? 3. Did the Magog Cartel ever took bother in searching trough the ruins of Rupture Farms, to find Molluck and have him shot? 4. Why was the Shrykull left out of Munch oddysee? 5. In AE, at the end of the game the slig announcer tell somethng about the destrcution of Soulstorm brewery. After that Diretor Phleg says: I hate that guy! How could he have said it when Abe imploded him after unlocking the main gate? 6. After the Gabiar Auction in MO the ship blows up becouse the fuzzels placed explosives (according to Munch), how did they get of the ship? Did they commit suicide? One more comment: About Mullock, I think he is one of the main charachters in the quintoligy since he is the only gluk in troughout the intire series to be introduced. We met all other glukkons durring movies and such (exept for Lulu, but his role ended already). But in AO we actualy get the line: Molluck, the glukkon. With a nice close up of his face. Oke, thats all I wanted to say. |
:
1. It wasn't considered destroyed, it was considered shut down. When newscaster slig acknowledged the Rupture Farms incident he said "shut down". 2. It says somewhere that it was turned into a weiner factory, but I think that it's just sitting there. 3. Lots of times, but it is rumoured that Molluck is a member of a Maufia that helped him escape. Or he could just be hiding. 4. They wanted the game to star Munch. If Abe could use Shrykull then there wouldn't be much for Munch to do. 5. It's just a voice that sounds like Phleg's. This is vague. 6. They planted the bomb with Munch and all left together before it exploded. |
Good questions, Havoc.
1. I think you're referring to MO more than AE, here, as an early description of the first level involved searching the ruins of RuptureFarms - which, of course, wouldn't be ruins. 2. They'd love to get a hold on a factory like that, but if they did, Lady Margaret would place responcibility for the disaster on their shoulders, in order to get the Chroniclers off her back. That's where Lulu comes in - or would have, had that plot device not been excluded from the final draft of MO. However, in non-written canon, he may well have been about to step in and replace Molluck, as a Daily Deception Online headline a while ago did explain that RuptureFarms' grand reopening had been cancelled. And then THQ go and say RuptureFarms was developed into Evenwurst Weenerz Factory. 3. More than likely, though it's never been expressly said. Molluck faked his own death to avoid taking responcibility for the disaster. And SS is right, there is a rumour going about that Molluck belongs to the Oddworld Mafia. 4. Technical and time restraints during development. Shrykull was scheduled to appear, but didn't. Alf explains it by saying Abe wanted to use some different powers for this adventure. 5. As SS says. It's the only explanation. 6. Bird portals is my guess. Makes me wonder how many there were. Vykkers Labs is massive: Munch only rescued, what, a few dozen during gameplay. Alternatively, they could have stowed away on the Blimps that took the Auction Bidders off the ship (assuming most of them did. Lulu certainly did, as we see him on the streets later). |
What ever happened to the glukkons Abe possesed in Munch's Oddessy they didn't explode they just go unconscious when he deposseses them?:fuzconf:
|
I've wondered this too, I guess they decided that they're too important to blow up.
|
I'd guess Abe wanted the glukkon to live with the shame of giving up all their profits. To a gluk, that's probably a lot worse than being blown up by Abe.
Or maybe giving up their profits was enough of a shock to shake off their possesion just in time to realize what they did, and fainted. Just speculation. |
Over time Abe became more in control of his possessing and became more confident. he eventually learnt how to un-possess creatures without actually exploding them. I think Alf said this.
|
yup Esus, you are right...
and I suppose Abe don't see the point of killing those Gluks since he allready has what he wants. |

|
The funny thing about that is the paper thats says "Dumb Gluk Loses Can" was printed before he bid his fortune, that's why Lulu's valet mentioned it while reading. So my guess is he blew up along with it and they are just being funny.

Who created the greeters?
|
http://www.oddworld.com/universe/ind...w_greeter.html
Greeters we're originally designed for mobile advertisement, but after they started attacking customers, Glukkons realised they'd make the perfect security gaurds! -oddguy |
I believe the Vykkers created the Greeters. Glukkons don't strike me as robotics engineers.
|
:
|
No because they valet said, "hey, it say's here your going to bid your entire fortune on Gabbiar". And if you recall it says the same thing on the Final paper, so they were playing a joke.
|
How did Abe and Munch get the can of Gabbiar after the auction?
|
:
Alcar... |
One such answer could be that Abe possessed Lulu and gave Munch the can - simple and effective.
|
all the other muds loaded up some snoozies and shot everyone in the auction hall, then they stole it.....yes......
|
eh... well thats a possibility... and a way to kill every rich gluk on oddworld...
Hey... why did'nt they do that? That would have saved a lot of trouble :P |
Because the Mudokons don't want to kill all the Glukkons - they want to liberate their brethren, and simply causing destruction and chaos isn't the way to go about it. Abe's ultimate goal is bit broader, in that he has to bring balance between the ideologies on Oddworld, which again doesn't exactly warrent Glukocide - even though Oddguy, in his thread, has correctly noted that Abe is a powerful terrorist.

I have a question for once. How is D. Caste Raider pronounced? Is it pronounced with a long A or a short A? If it's pronounced with a short A then it would sound alot like "The Castrator", or is that the whole idea for his name to be a pun?
Wow, it feels weird asking a question in here, I don't think I have posted one since I was a newbie. :p |
