I got Dishonored yesterday and have been playing it like crazy. It started off a bit slow and it felt mildly disappointing at first but oooooh boy, when you get some of those crazy ass teleporting/possessing skills it starts to get really fun. It's hard to play sneaky when you can have so much more fun if you just throw the guards around and make them shoot each-other in the face. The combat is really enjoyable.

I'm currently in the fifth mission if I remember correctly. I hate the weeper enemies so much, they're annoying fuckers.

OANST 10-16-2012 01:20 PM

Huh?

Varrok 10-16-2012 02:15 PM

Dyna, post it again, OANST didn't notice it

Steamer_KING 10-16-2012 02:44 PM

Who?

Crashpunk 10-18-2012 02:12 AM

Dynamithix.

scrabface 10-18-2012 02:33 AM

yeah, dead island was a huge boring disappointment

just started playing XCOM: Enemy Unknown - looks great so far

Varrok 10-18-2012 03:55 AM

You can't spell "XCOM: Enemy Unknown" without "huge boring disappointment"

EDIT: I did some research, and I was wrong, you actually can spell it like that. The game isn't very good, still

scrabface 10-18-2012 05:07 AM

did you play any of the original series?

Varrok 10-18-2012 06:59 AM

Yes, loved 'em

Dynamithix 10-18-2012 09:05 AM

I finished Dishonored. Great game, every mission was pretty good, the first and the last two were the best in my opinion. The plot twist(s) were kind of predictable though. I got the good ending, woo.

Mr. Bungle 10-18-2012 01:01 PM

I've actually heard great things about the new XCOM. Mostly from people who haven't really played the originals. Looks like a case of Fallout 3 syndrome.

Varrok 10-18-2012 01:07 PM

People who played MO first say it's great

OANST 10-18-2012 01:11 PM

I can't imagine anyone saying that.

Varrok 10-18-2012 01:14 PM

I couldn't imagine people giving such praise to Fallout 3... They're just silly sometimes

Mr. Bungle 10-18-2012 02:00 PM

I like Fallout 3. That's because I didn't play the originals. Also because I love Bethesda games. Also because it's a good fucking game.

Also, explain the great reviews Fallout 3 got. And the huge fanbase. It's a good game, accept it.

Varrok 10-18-2012 10:48 PM

Fallout 3 is a good standalone game. And it's got *great* reviews (like 9/10 masterpiece or even more). So it's not really accurate.

And it's stripped from the elements of the original series I loved the most (e.g. good story), this is why It's not a good Fallout game and as I judge sequels by the original games and not by what it'd be if it wasn't a sequel (They called it Fallout 3 after all) I can't even classify it as a "good game".

How long was it?

Dynamithix 10-19-2012 01:12 AM

It took me a bit over 14 hours to go through it and I did most of the sidemissions and I played very stealthily, but you can beat the game in around 6 hours from what I've heard, maybe even less if you know the shortest paths around the levels. But don't worry about the length, it didn't feel short at all and it still has tons of replay value if you're going for all the achievements (don't kill anyone through out the game etc.) and such.

MeechMunchie 10-21-2012 04:28 AM

Dark Crusade done. Sentinels are ridiculous. Their long-range lasers can fry a Hammerhead grav-tank in seconds. Just Eldar left to do now, though I might replay Chaos first.

Started a New Game+ on Bastion. The higher difficulty makes it more satisfying, and it's nice to see that they've updated the story a little too.

The entire thing is supposed to be another Restoration loop, but the faint memories are slowly starting to build up.

"Kid wanders into The Sole Regre- Wait, did I already... Ah, forget it."

The idea being, of course, that The Kid eventually feels apprehensive enough of the Bastion's function to choose Evacuate instead.

jumper 10-21-2012 10:03 AM

I really should do New Game+ on Bastion. I started it, but then life got in the way.

Mark of the Ninja is currently occupying some of my free time. Strangely, it reminds me of Oddysee and Exoddus, if only because it's a 2D platformer with stealth elements (ok, a lot of stealth). It's a bit repetitive, but I haven't bored of it yet, and the optional challenges are pretty fun to do.

Mr. Bungle 10-21-2012 11:23 AM

My brother purchased Dawnguard, so I've been playing that a bit. Being a vampire lord is reeeeeally cool. Crossbows are sweet too.

MeechMunchie 10-22-2012 10:46 AM

Still Bastion. Ditched my Cael Hammer for a Scrap Musket with upgraded spread and damage. I use it for knocking out anything that gets too close while my Slinger Pistols are reloading. Plus it can take out a forest of obstacles in one double-shot.

Also found the Portal easter egg. There's now a lovable turret guarding The Bastion.

"I want to go home."
"Who
are you?"
"Error: Chromatic data overload."

It's funny because Portal is grey and Bastion is a technicolour dreamscape.

Dynamithix 10-22-2012 11:49 AM

Finished my second Dishonored playthrough today. No one spotted me during the campaign and I found all the Sokolov paintings, that's neat. This is like Deus Ex: Human Revolution all over again, I just want to play it through in all the ways possible. Next up, rambo-mode playthrough, I'm going to shoot everything that moves and get the worst ending possible, fuck yeah.

Dixanadu 10-22-2012 06:41 PM

I rented Man vs Wild, only because I heard it was so fucking terrible that it was actually good.

I haven't laughed so hard in forever. Get this fucking game.

Rent it, though.

Nepsotic 10-22-2012 10:01 PM

Oh god, I've seen playthroughs of it, it looks fucking hilarious.

Dixanadu 10-23-2012 07:15 AM

It really is. If I dare say, it's the gaming equivalent of a B-Movie.

Everything is so fucking awful it's actually hilarious. The only good thing is the controls.

OANST 10-24-2012 07:57 AM

So like an action oriented Deadly Premonition? That sounds fun.

Phylum 10-26-2012 04:30 PM

I've been blasting through Jamestown some more lately. I've taken down every level on Divine except the last one. I'm hoping to unlock Judgement by the end of next week.

I can make it to the Heart of Mars/Conquistador, but he has some ridiculously fast, intricate bullet patterns. The slow rotating beams of death are just that extra bit of stress that completely sends me over the edge into a horrible death every single time.

I made it to him with two lives left today. I think I'm going to need at least four to have a decent chance at taking him down, but the level beforehand is so busy that this is almost impossible for me to comprehend. Realistically I'm just going to have to play it until I've memorised every single bullet pattern that he throws at you.

Also, fuck that very last phase of the Conquistador. The wide spread, super fast bullets kill me on every run, no matter what I do.

I can't recommend this game enough if you have the concentration to play it.

Steamer_KING 10-26-2012 06:35 PM

I've started today, will give more insight after done it.

Phylum 10-30-2012 12:15 AM

It took me 25 hours, but I finally finished torchlight 2 with my Engineer.

Now to do it all again on New Game+ mode!
