I didn't think he actually spoke then. I thought it was all the others.

Cullen Heath 11-15-2006 04:39 PM

No, he spoke...

No, he spoke...

He was the only Mud to try to help Abe.
He has a deeper voice than the others.

Xavier 11-15-2006 10:39 PM

Heh he knew about Abe's fate I guess, and he knew Abe had some important things to do :p

Bullet Magnet 11-15-2006 11:48 PM

I wouldn't know how you can tell, given that he has no lip synching.

Wil 11-16-2006 01:56 AM

A combination of the camera and the animation. So when the camera focuses on Big Face turning from one Mudokon to another, we assume the voice saying “Well how about you?” is his.

Fuzzle Guy 11-16-2006 04:46 AM

This seems to be a pretty obvious question and I have always persumed the answer to be yes, but I'm going to ask it now at the risk of looking an idiot.

Is Abe's friend in MO Alf?

Cullen Heath 11-16-2006 05:25 AM

That would be correct.;)

Arxryl 11-16-2006 07:14 AM

Yeah... if you listen closely you can hear his lisp a little. I think...

Wil 11-16-2006 07:55 AM

Correct. In addition, the Alf on Oddworld.com occasionally would refer to his…uh…encouraging Abe to jump into the Big Well.

Zerox 11-16-2006 08:20 AM

Heh.
Bigface can be heard talking briefly at the beggining of AE, also.
His voice is deeper than Abe's there, for certain. I presume partly it's deep due to his theorised old age. He must be fairly old to have gained such skills?

Bullet Magnet 11-16-2006 08:34 AM

Well his loincloth has gone grey, indicating a ridiculous a "let's not start this rumour please" biological factor in which mudokons are in a symbiotic relationship with their undies.

Arxryl 11-16-2006 11:32 AM

Ah... thank you people for answering my question.

Who the hells mind did that sprout from? Their loincloths are not alive. Fact. Live with it.
Obviously, it's gone grey with age. They're loincloths have a 'feeling' to them. The Mudokons always wear them, as they are a part of their culture. So it would seems presumable that they get a pair and keep them for life. Explaining why Bigface's have gone grey with age. Bit like how your jeans go lighter coloured over time i.e. the knees.

Bullet Magnet 11-17-2006 09:47 AM

It came from my mind, Zerox. I think your spirited argument against the idea has given it the substance it needs to enter the n00b psyke. Wa-hey.

I don’t like that logic. I almost always wear clothes, and it must be a part of my culture, because it’s illegal for me not to do so in public. I don’t keep my clothes for life, primarily because they get worn out. Likewise, I don’t think Mudokons are worried about throwing the odd loincloth away when it’s reduced to tatters. It’s not as if they’re made from anything non‐renewable or non‐biodegradable.

p.s.

Or indeed the pedantic veteran psyche, it seems. :p

I see your point. Hmmm...maybe, depending on how long they last, the shaman's might pass a pair down through generations in some way? I never really focused on the loincloth, but if it's not grey from aging, it'll be made from a slightly different or rarer material, and so used as a status point along with the mask of a shaman.

Bonedust 11-20-2006 04:16 PM

Why do you guys always use those squares?
☺☺☺

Bullet Magnet 11-20-2006 04:44 PM

:

What squares, these ones? That question would be better off somewhere else, or answered after a search through the forum. They are quote boxes, made when you reply using the quote button, or typing
(or
. Adding a comma and the post number that you are quoting from provides the button that links to the original post.

I've got a question I've been thinking over for a while now...

Why is it that the industrialists produce... well... products?
I mean, the closest things I've seen in Oddworld to civilization are the industrialists. There doesn't seem to be any actual cities or countries.

Well no, there were the towns in SW, but still, I don't remember seeing any industrialized goods in them... I mean, is there a real reason for Scrab Cakes, Paramite Pies, Meech Munchies, or Mudo-Pops?

Fixed

BM that link doesn't work.

As for actually answering the question; I'll leave that one to Max because I'm sure he'll be able to come up with a better description of Khanzumers than me.

EDIT: Hmmm... TOE doesn't have an entry on them.

aaj111 11-21-2006 12:20 PM

Where did paramites exactly come from? Why do they really only attack if you corner them... why are they vicious with others? Is there any interesting hypothesis of Evolution of these creatures?

What's the deal with the 'Moon' Scene in Abe's Oddysee after he gets away from the slogs, then after that he falls and meets the big face.

Is the round thing around the slogs head kinda like a 'ram' mechanism? Similar to those Tri Horned Dinosaurs?

Why are Glukkons ugly...

They attack when cornered out of desperation. They are pack hunters, only gaining confidence with friends... the exact nature of their social system in indeterminate, whether it is loose, and they associate with any other paramites, or if they have tight-knit family groups.
They are not the only creatures on Oddworld to have finger-like appendages around their oral orifice, their superficial similarity with that of human hands is an example of convergant evolution (I am obligated by the state of Kansas to present the alternative theory of evolution: Stephen Olds' Design). They have been referred to as fingers, fangs and tentacles in the past, they could be called pedipalps, after the analogous feature shared with spiders, I have had various terms, incuding phalangipods and pterodontophores.

That would be the moment of his spiritual awakening. Pay attention! :p

That seems to be a simple frill, perhaps the remnants of a display crest, like that of Ceratopsidae, or serving some other biological function that we do not yet know. Of course, it could be evidence of SOD.

:

Why are Glukkons ugly...
That is a matter of opinion, and one you should keep to yourself.

Racist...

aaj111 11-21-2006 01:10 PM

Heh, Yes, I am sure to them, we are ugly. >.< It was just a joke.

I have many questions, I just can't think... and I try to get as much information as I can.

And those things on the 'mouth' of a Paramite do interest me, (same as with a slig.) I guess thats why it's called oddworld. lol

Edit: I still don't get the moon thing. lol.

Arxryl 11-21-2006 01:41 PM

Well, the moon has been around since before Abe was born. It didn't just appear there for no apparent reason. (Kinda symbolizing that the mudokons were a special race, and that they were needed for the survival of Oddworld. Abe in particular.)
When Abe saw it, he realized that he was important to the survival of many of the native species of Oddworld. It's like realizing that you Can do something for the world, and that pushes you to do it.

I hope that helps at all...

aaj111 11-21-2006 01:50 PM

Well that was a better explanation than before. :P Thanks.

Bullet Magnet 11-21-2006 01:52 PM

What was wrong with my explaination? :fuzconf:

Arxryl 11-21-2006 02:07 PM

I don't know. I think that yours was a pretty good explanaition, but different people need to hear things in different ways.............. Iguess.
