Crazy People That Happen To Me III
Posted 01-28-2009 at 10:35 AM by OANST
About eight years ago, I was a manager at a pizza place by the name of Papa John's. While working there we had a delivery driver who had been a football (American version) player and who had actually been on a major team (The Lions). He didn't ever play but was one of the stand-ins. You know, just in case every other player on the team was injured or some such thing.
Anyhow, he was a bit off. It may have been that he had been hit a few too many times or he could have just been born like this. I have no idea. In any case, he was a bit slow. His biggest problem was hearing the word death. His mother had died a few months prior to him starting work there and he just could not abide to hear the word death. It didn't matter in what context it was used.
One day, I send him on a delivery that is about a mile away from the store. He returns an hour and a half later. As he walks in the door I look at him and say "What the hell happened, man? I thought you died out there". He stops dead in his tracks and stares at me. He then begins pacing back and forth and eventually walks out of the building and disappears around the side. After a couple seconds he comes back in and starts yelling about how he told me to never say that. My response is somewhere along the lines of how this is neither here nor there and that i would like to know why the fuck it took so long to make the delivery. He then grabs me by my throat and puts me up against a wall as he continues yelling about how I shouldn't have said that.
Now, this needs to be said. I can be a complete moron at times. A giant man who is used to getting attacked by other giant men has me against a wall by my throat and what do I do? Can you guess? I'll tell you. I start screaming in his face about how I am going to beat the fucking shit out of him if he doesn't get his goddamn hands off of me. I utter things such as "I will fucking kill you, motherfucker".
Well, eventually he let me go and just stalked off into the night. I felt partially bad about the situation though, and made sure that he didn't get fired but just worked different shifts from me.
