Dragonball Evolution

It just looks so fucking terrible. I have a friend who's a hardcore DB fan that has explicitly stated he's going all Alan Moore about it.

That looks like a cheap sketch-show satire of a Disneyfied version of a crappy action movie that was ripping off the Priori Incantatem scene from Harry Potter.

I can't imagine how it could get worse. Other than having to sit through an entire movie of it, of course.

The beginning is pretty damn funny, unintentionally of course. As the movie goes on it gets more serious though, which was for the worst.

Dragonball is pretty much the worst choice for an americanized live-action movie. Animated animals, Japanese-style humor, Complex storyline...

Why not pick an anime with lots of humans in it? Like Naruto or Bleach?!

Because those are both terrible shows? (Though Bleach apparently just got worse later on. I don't know.) At least Cowboy Bebop or Akira makes a lick of sense. This was just a stupid idea from the beginning

Dragonball COULD work as a real movie but it would take a lot more money and time to pull off then this did. With enough money to hire decent actors and create enough visual effects and enough time to write a decent story and not cut corners with the production, this could have been a damn good movie. But hey, they thought the name would make all the money. And I'm sure it did for a bit.

Bleach and Naruto are two of the most talked about anime of this decade. Did you happen to notice how many videogames there are? (At least 2 for each series are made each year if not more)

Bleach and Naruto may not make the best live-action movie... but at least they are within reason. Attempting to bring the Dragonball/Z franchise to the big screen is an impossible task. Even if they stuck to the source material, it might have sucked... but by adding lame 'new' characters, and messing up the original story... it pretty much nailed a nail into its own coffin. I feel sorry for whoever came up with the idea to americanize it.

Death Note had a better live action movie than Naruto ever could.








And the Death Note movie was worse than the Dungeons and Dragons movie.

Looked alright from what I saw. Elfen Lied would make an interesting live-action movie.

I think I'd rather watch the Hannah Montana movie than a Naruto one.

There is no reason for a movie not to follow canon. Only lazy directors chop and change things... and then they are surprised when they get bad reviews...

The least they can do is make sure the plot is cohesive, so the audience can understand. If even the hardcore fans don't understand the plot of the movie, then you're screwed.

Who was it that said Dragonball had a complex storyline? I can't see them. I can't see much of anything through this haze of bullshit.

It does, if you consider absolutely everything in the cartoon, Manga, and movies.

So, they invented random characters called Fuller, Mai and Fu Lum who do absolutely nothing for the story whatsoever... for some random reason Piccolo had control of the Oozaru, (which was total BS compared to the original anime, Piccolo didn't even know what a Saiyan was in DB).

Goku was never enrolled in any kind of education in the manga. I don't understand why just because it's americanized, it has to be set in a High School. Seriously, don't americans ever study/live anywhere else besides High School?!

OMG, the main character gets bullied! Cliche to the max! What next, a radioactive spider? In fact the whole film looks like a Spider-Man rip-off.

The whole film looks like it suffers from 07 Transformers syndrome.
