Nice to hear you're in a good way.

College is almost through for me as well this semester. Classes were good and not that hard. Granted, it was only my first semester and my only non-music course was History, but I managed to keep all my shit together for the most part and I'm looking at a 4.0 for the semester.

Highlights: improved at euphonium and piano (I hope); saw Lewis Black live; voted all by myself even though it was for the losing side; completed my first composition in years; secured comfortable and affordable housing for my sophomore year; didn't turn into a complete fuck (yet) like many of my peers did their first year.

Thanksgiving break is just about finished. Going back today. Overall, I'm disappointed with how I spent it. Intended to do more, but didn't and let down those around me. It was a much-needed rest though, and at least Winter break is coming up soon. I'll know how to deal with it better then.

Have fun in Singapore and Japan! Hope to go myself some day.

I wish I could get a 4.0 for a quarter over at my school. Damn. Used, are you in a music program I assume? I attempted that, and took music theory I for a quarter, and decided "fuck that" because I realized I couldn't put up with that shit if it gets harder the rest of the year. Basically right now I'm aspiring to be a biologist, and have a "future" in art. Music has become just a hobby for me.

Yes. I'm going for a degree in music education, which will serve as a good platform for higher musical studies. I'm also going to try for a double major in Spanish. I thought about making Spanish my bread-and-butter and going with theory/composition for my music degree, but I figured I can do everything I want to do composing wise in pursuit of an education degree, though composition would guarantee me seven semesters of piano. With education, I only get two semesters during my first year and a minor only gives me two more after that. Lame.

If your music is as good as your art, I think it would be worth it to pursue it further. I know from the frequent complaining of the upperclassmen that it will get tough down the road, and Spanish will require a lovely $9,000 semester abroad, but anything worth acquiring will probably take some strife.
