If you're British, name five English counties, and explain the difference between the United Kingdom, Great Britain and the British Isles.

He's such a trickster, there is no difference.

The United Kingdom is the union of states or whatever of GB, Scotland and Ireland.
Great Britain is your country the same way Canada is my country.
The British Isles (for example the canary islands???) are territory still under the dominion of GB but obviously less colonial these days.

In that list, Yorkshire is the only county. York is the county capital. "Yorkshire" literally means "Land of York".

And even that one is actually split up into smaller counties - North Yorkshire etc. - not unlike Dakota. So basically, 0/5.

The British Isles are Great Britain, Ireland, and a few smaller islands like the Isle of Man.
Great Britain is the largest of the British Isles, and contains the nations of England, Scotland and Wales.
The United Kingdom is the union of Great Britain, Northern Ireland (i.e. not most of it) and most of the other British Isles, which are all represented in/by one government.

If it helps, think of the constituent countries of the UK as states, like the ones in the USA or Canada. It's a similar principle, but with less capacity for individual lawmaking.
