I got a classic/spanish guitar?
it's been with me for like 3 weeks now, and i am learning really quickly, and it also helped that i borrowed one of my cousin's guitars to practice on way before getting my own.
i can play:
Perfect two by auburn: full song
One by MetallicA: a little bit of the intro
Unforgiven by MetallicA: intro
Slow Ride by Foghat: a little bit of the intro

i'll try that when i get the hang of it, perfect two is just a repetetive guitar so it's of question, i think i'll try unforgiven.

Nice. I also play guitar, and really enjoy it.

Keep at it, and keep us posted on how you're doing. Good luck!

You should learn to play the Harp. Now that is admirable.

Guitar is such a fun instrument to play, classical guitar even more so. Get Opeth's - Sill Day Beneath the Sun into your list... that is a fun song.

When you can play Grand Vals, you will have my respect.

See you in a few years.

To be serious: it's great that you're learning an instrument. With enough luck an instrument may teach you about some good music.

Metallica will then fall into the category of "Okay at best."

Learn ragtime music on the thing. Really good fun to play. A lot of fingerpicking involved, but it's great stuff.

I envy you here, Abe619. I started learning to play the guitar months ago, scavenging the guitar off my sister whenever she wasn't using it, and I really enjoyed it. I was so happy to have finally found a hobby which relaxes me rather than making me rage because I'm no good at it.

Then my parents split up. I stayed with my father, my sister left with my mother, and the guitar went with her..

Aw sucks dude.

I agree a lot of hobbies are frustrating, but hobbies do usually exist for the sole purpose of killin' valuable time lol one big error of omission perhaps?

Valuable time indeed. For time is the only thing with undeniable value. And yet when we have it, our emotions force us to find ways to kill it. If the meaning of life is to run out of time, I wanna do it learning to play the odd-damn guitar.
If only for a little bit...

oh and i unintentionally play vocals when i listen to metallica, wether i want it or not, i just find myself singing.

I play vocals a LOT. It's a fun instrument that doesn't cost a dime. It's really easy to practise too.

I can't decide whether I'm good at it or not, though. My girlfriend and a number of my friends tell me I have a really nice singing voice but I once got curious, recorded myself, played it back, and literally winced at the awful noise which is my voice.
