My Sixth Blog: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

I saw the film today and really enjoyed it. The quidditch and fight scenes really set it apart from anything that had been shown before. The Snape/Draco scenes were very well filmed and the love story made perfect sense (especially if you've read the books).

The ending is almost word for word from the book and it's one of the best films yet.

I give it a 9/10. I honestly could hardly offer as to what could have made it a better film. Probably the best HP film yet. It's pacing was much better than HP5, which felt really rushed.

What do you think?

I thought the love story was overexaggerated. They seemed to have waited till this film to finally make the characters actually "love" eachother. The Harry and Ginny shit was annoying. The girl who plays her needs to be locked up for good, her acting is pure crap. I felt bad after I watched it because I thought they could have done so much better with this film. I didn't like the book that much, but I was still expecting the film to be cool.

The only part I really liked was the ending. As you said, it was really well done. However, I thought the majority of the other parts was tedious and unnecessary.

Oh shush, you knew what I meant. And in the event you really didn't, I mean only the hp movies.

Well, in the books it's less subtle since the side-stories become more fleshed out and have greater meaning. Let's not forget the Harry/Cho relationship between HP4 and HP5. Also, Ginny played a more important role in HP5/6 than in any other book (besides HP2).

I see HP1 and HP2 as being really good adaptations of the book, but extremely predictable. HP3 brings in some great characters, HP4 has some great special effects! (Dragon FTW). HP5 has some epic fight scenes and HP6 is a good rounded version of the book.

I'm looking forward to HP7 very much. It'll feel a lot more like Kill Bill in that it'll just be the characters going on a massive manhunt to try and stop Voldemort. I'd love to see the fight scenes in that!

Are you kidding? The first two were so shite I can't bring myself to watch them again. The kids' acting was atrocious, the writing was terrible and they made changes that weren't necessary.

#3 was the first to really capture the atmosphere of the books
#4 was the first to really capture the humour of the books
#5 was really good, although I thought it was too short. I mean, the longest book became the shortest movie?!
#6 I haven't seen yet.

The first 20 minutes of HP5 feel really rushed to me.

Yeah, but I thought it picked up incredibly after that by deviating so far from the book it wasn't even bad anymore.

Most of my friends thought it was really bad, but I thought it was only because none of them have read the books and were just unsatisfied with the ending. I thought it was great.
