This looks... well... fucking awesome.
I must be way out of the loop if I wasn't aware of this by now.

Also that is totally Hunter Thompson driving that car.

Frickin' epic. Now I just need to wait another year for it to come out in the UK.

Part of the appeal for me is that it's ILM's first crack at animation. I'm also tired of companies like Dreamworks aiming to please only the lowest common denominator.
What I've seen of Rango makes me feel like someone is trying to impress me with an animated feature as opposed to just making one to fill the quota.

Plus I have a soft spot for Chameleons. I'm glad someone put a lizard in the protagonist's seat. I'm sick of cute, fluffy animals.

I strongly considered watching it upon viewing the image, having certain ideas about it in my head, though these feelings were diminished after actually watching the trailer. To me, it just looks like your run-of-the-mill animated film, and the cut-and-dried humour just doesn't work for me.

Go back to the retirement home, Oddjob! >: (

Actually you're right. It may totally suck. I certainly hope not though.

Agreed.

I'm a little confused as to why a Chameleon is in the Mojave, but it's a fucking animated movie. The Hunter S. cameo made me smile with all my teeth.

Also, Rango has the look of a female Jacksons Chameleon, which is a little strange.

Also Also, when I first saw Rango, and before I saw the Hunter S. cameo, I assumed Ralph Steadman was an influence. That chameleon just smacks of Steadman.

Based on the little piss of a synopsis we've been provided, he "travels" to the Mojave to find himself. It's clear from the trailer he doesn't belong there, so yeah.

Even if the plot ends up being a recycled piece of crap, the visuals alone have thoroughly impressed me.

I just saw the trailer (a bit different one than posted here - http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=553696560571) and my first thought was "Wow, what a Stranger's Wrath rip-off"! The look and feel of the town and the people.. I was surprised to see no one here had commented on the similarities, this being the OW forum and all
