I've decided to take a bit of a sabbatical. A break, a vacation, leave, furlough. You've been truly gracious, putting up with my saucy witticisms, and I've accepted your slanderous back-talk with tears of admiration...

I'm quite happy I found the quote above, it's a nice note to go out on.

Recently, things have been going my way, I've had a good confidence boost over the last few weeks and it's kept my head above the water at a time when by all rights I should be sinking. I don't intend to divulge the reasons for why I'm happy because I don't want them to be sabotaged by a multitude of jokes in poor taste which would of course follow suit.

But it does mean this: I no longer feel the need to be here all the time. Life in the real world is looking up, and as much as I love each and every one of you very fondly, it means that hopefully I'll be out more often, with a renewed look on life, rather than being stuck on my laptop every weekend.

It's been a tumultuous, tempestuous and turbulent 3-4 years, and although I've had my fair share of scuffles, arguments and stupid moments (mostly my own fault, if not all my own fault), you guys have generally made me feel included into a community when I felt distanced from the real world. You've all provided me with laughs, hope and wisdom. You made me question my beliefs...and alter myself accordingly, moreover for the better in my opinion. And for this I thank you, as a forum, as a group of people and individually. I don't want to mention names because I would forget some people who I wouldn't mean to.

And here is the crux, I am leaving...kind of. It's time I made my way in the real world, rather than pursuing a life on the internet which until recently, I used to wish for over my actual one. So I'm cutting down my posting here, providing you all with a much needed break from me. I will no doubt appear here and there, because no one truly leaves OWF do they?

I will miss seeing you all everyday, but it is probably for the best. Thank you. Sooo much. I wish each and everyone of you the best in life, and I think of you fondly. x

Although it seems a bit odd to me. I never understood why one feels like they have to leave a 'net forum behind before going out into the world unless they don't have 'net access or so... It's not like you spend most of your time here or feel obliged to do so every time you have a free moment, is it?

It's important to find a balance between this place and other things. I used to be in a position where I'd literally spend a couple of hours looking around on these forums and trying to get involved in as many things as I could. It's a healthy (I would say) level now and provides me with leisure for 5-10 minutes every few hours. That change was totally by accident, but I'm sure you can find a similar balance.

I'm going to guess you've got a girlfriend. What else would invite a multitude of jokes in poor taste. Except, maybe, a boyfriend...



Jokes aside, I hope this isn't going to be a permanent exile. Despite how it may seem, it is possible to restrict OWF to short daily bursts rather than a constant IV drip.

I think I speak for all of us when I say that we'll miss you.

If you really want to stay away right-click on notepad and select run as administrator. Then go file, open, C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts
(you may need to have the drop-down box next to the file name box selected as All files)

On a new line at the end of the document copy and paste the text below. To come back simply delete it.

I have just entered the house and sat down with a coffee to check my emails. It just so happens that I also checked this place. It's in muscle memory. If you want to visit only at will, you will have to forge the necessary neurological pathways for the act of checking this forum to be a conscious effort.

Lot's of different things all came together at once, but mostly pressure from work and the fear of under achieving. Resulting in me completely melting down into a fit of sobbing and babbling some time around Tuesday evening, I feel better now but I have yet to eat a substantial meal and I think it's caused me to contract a head cold.
