The Prodigal Son Returns
Bit of a grandiose title considering I still post, albeit infrequently (and my contributions nowadays are vapid and devoid of intellect and meaningful content... then again, I suppose nothing's changed)...
I now live in London, where I'll be for 9 months, working for an arts group, doing administration and PR. Hardly profitable. But an interesting experience nonetheless. I'm not a fan of the hustle and bustle, in honesty. However, it is great to be close to so many good music venues (and a short tube trip away from Camden, which has an interesting market).
I'm mainly writing this blog because I'm now alone and feel like pretending I'm not. (not as bleak and tragic as it sounds...). I was fortunate enough that my girlfriend was kind enough to help me move into the new place and stay with me a week, but she lives over 100 miles away now, and I've practically lived with her for the past few weeks, so I'm getting used to the lack of company again. Not complaining much, though, I like being alone, it'll just take a day or so to adjust to spending evenings and mornings on my own again.
Beside the small and irrelevent (at least to all of you) news about my own life, I was thrilled to watch the television this morning and find that Jeremy Corbyn had won the Labour leadership election (with 59.5% of the votes in the first round.... second place was Andy Burnham with about 19%....). Tom Watson is now deputy, too. So the two people I voted for were succesfully elected in what I think was a good, democratic election. And I was impressed especially with Corbyn's conduct amidst the numerous attempts by the media to smear his person (he's not a part of the establishment, he has strong socialist principles, so private companies aren't his biggest fans...). Now I eagerly await 2020....
And MA, don't know if/how often you still check the forums, but I visited a farm recently, and you might be entertained/dismayed to know that you were the first person to spring to mind, long-gone as that career may be... hope you're doing well (same goes for everyone else, but I can't name everyone - if I did, I'd probably exhaust the entirety of the forums' active membership, considering we seem to be in fairly quiet times...)
