My PC is dying!! Help!

I have just about had enough of this piece of crap PC. It has given me nothing but grief for the past few years. The only thing it has been perfect with is for sorting out and destroying viruses/trojans.

All of a sudden i get this popup saying that a threat has been detected called
Win32:FastSaveApp. So i destroy the file and it just pops up again, every single time. and every time it pops up, it corrups my files so i can't access coursework etc. Anyone have any ideas of how to remove this pain in the ass virus?

Spybot S&D and RKill.

Spybot is the standard. RKill temporarily knocks out anything that tries to stop Spybot from working.

MSE wouldn't be my first pick by any means.

I agree that it's good with fixing Windows things, but you need to run it with something else it doesn't conflict with like AVG. I've been using paid AVG since at least '05 and I've never had issues with it. My last renewal was just before the last big price hike, though, and I can't see myself paying even more for it again.

My main issue with AVG (and other antiviruses as well) is that it wants to install a whole bunch of unnecessary services like the link scanner and email scanner. And if you try to disable them within the software, you get big, red, scary, un-hideable alert notices telling you that your computer is at risk.

But I concede that that is a usability issue rather than a reliability one.

my default is Microsoft Security Essentials and that did fuck all, I managed to destroy the viruses now by a very risky, manual way, but it worked. I opened the programs window and uninstalled files that looked suspicious. all of a sudden my protection status went green and nothing has happened since. I still lost dozens of documents but it's fixed. for now.

Works for me as basic protection, but then I don't visit many sites and am careful with what I click on.
