The genre of RPG is a very large one; they aren't all turn-based and slow.

Chrono Trigger is a really good RPG.

My favorite RPG EVER is Fallout 3 it's so much fun, seriously if you're a gamer you NEED to play it. I'm trying to get into Oblivion now, I don't really like it so far needs moar Three Dog ;P

i played Fallout 3, i don't consider that as rpg, but due to windows 7's compatability sh!t i couldn't play the whole thing.

Three Dog pissed me off one too many times so I shot him in the head at point blank with a sniper rifle. For me, this defines RPG. If you don't like it, 619, play a different genre. Don't rage publicly about one of the greatest and most successful game-types of all time.

And Hazel, if you can't get into Oblivion just play Fallout 3 some more. I find that I switch between the two, only being able to get into one when I've played myself bored of the other.

i didn't jrpgs, fallout 3 and mass effect aren't so rpg they are shooter/rpg hybrid, diablo 2 was action-rpg not a notmal one, tried dragon age, cool but i didn't have the time nor the space to play it.
oh and action stuff can still make use of ur mind, like puzzle areas, and one particular game we all know about.
and rts still makes use of ur mind that's y it's called Realtime Strategy.

To be honest, I've only played a handful of RPGs, but there's only that handful that kept me interested in what is happening. I like the attempt to flesh out a universe unknown, but sometimes the action feels a tad too subdued. I see what people like about it, and what they do not like about it. RPGs usually become too obviously epic for my taste. I prefer it when you can feel it is epic, not when the game practically has to announce it. This is a minor flaw, but it makes the plot feel predictable.

These things are all western style RPGs, learn what you're talking about.

I don't really like JRPGs, their stories always seem so convoluted and their characters so unlikable (not all but most). I know the Japanese are all about contemplation and patience but that kind of pacing just doesn't do it for me, I much prefer western RPGs.

You gotta face it 619, all together the RPG world is unbeatable.
