Gay Food Stuffs

Posted 06-26-2012 at 07:41 AM by JayDee
Woke up, nothing unusual; went to sixth form, nothing unusual; got home and logged onto facebook, something very odd. o.O

I don't know if you've seen this but Kraft Foods released a picture of a multilayered Oreo with rainbow colouring.
Yup.

They released this in support of gay rights, which sparked what this site calls, 'a firestorm of coments.'
So what I'm wondering is, what do people see wrong with people of other sexualities? I'm not a homosexual man, (sorry, STM) But that doesn't mean I should have more rights than someone who is. I have two gay friends and they seem just as normal, and happy as everyone else I've met. Human beings are Human beings. It isn't so much an issue here in the UK as I know it can be in the US, but I've still seen discrimination against them.

Basically what's your opinion on Gay Rights?

I kid you not, this was the last thing I just saw before I opened up this blog post, it appeared on my Facebook news feed, I wish it were real!

This support for LGBT is far better than the one Chevrolet did *Facepalm*

Pssh, you're so gay for me it's not even funny Josh.

Live and let live, gay people deserve to be out and about like the rest of us, state marriage is allowed here now too right? That's good.

I didn't even notice the coloured bits were identical until I looked at it twice.

But then on the other hand it’s a risky move. An American company celebrating gay pride risks pissing off the giant conservative hornet’s nest.

They could easily stick to inoffensive occasions for their marketing, but this is a bold move. So kudos to them.

Apparently this did cause a stir on Facebook, the same thing has also happened with General Mills in which a Christian group is boycotting them by not purchasing their products...

On the other hand, controversy is free publicity.

I’ll take controversial and progressive over trite and conservative any day.

All I'm saying is, speaking as a fag, I don't think this was done out of the goodness of their hearts.

They didn't actually do it at all, though.

And as other's pointed out, gay rights is a huge polarizing issue in American politics right now. Whatever the reason, companies making it known that they find discrimination to be distasteful (see what I did there) can't be a bad thing. However, this isn't even real.

Chevrolet also did an LGBT advert, though personally I despise it.

Also, I've been dieting, and all this talk is making me crave Oreos something fierce. Christ, I want a glass of milk, and a box of fucking Oreos right now.

I don't even like chocolate and I want a damn Oreo! Just the one in the picture though, I'd remove the biscuit part and eat the rainbow filling as it looks yummy!

Pig out, Oreos taste so good it cancels out the badness.

I think it's good that companies are doing this. After all, it shows how much things are coming along with the acceptance of LGBT. About chuffing time.

I cannot overstate how much the giant conservative hornets nest needs pissing off all the time. If they're not pissed off at you personally then you're doing it wrong.

This might actually be a good marketing move. Starbucks had a significant uptick in sales after conservative groups boycotted them for their pro-gay marriage stance.
