I'm the same way. I call it poop goggles. It's now impossible for me to enjoy any media without re-arranging the dialogue in my head to say "penis" or something like that.

WoF: How does this differ from, say, a Dishwasher Tablet?

The term 'cooker' to me implies a person who cooks. I suspect that this is actually meant to be a cooking implement of some kind, but nothing in your post informs me of which sort you are referring to.

A cooker is an oven, Nate. He was baking tablet, a Scottish sweet, and somehow managed to destroy his oven in the process.

Stupid Brits...

And T-nex, don't talk about your cooker like that.

We managed to fix it by taking it in turns to suck baking fat out of one of the bits underneath the gas ring. All that was needed was a pin for a spark to jump across and it's as good as new.

We also made nearly £50 by selling said cakes, so a good day was had by all.

No. A cooker is an appliance that combines an oven and hob into a single unit that doesn't need to be fitted. Sometimes they also include a storage drawer and extractor hood.

You fail your White Goods exam.

When I was a wee one, our cooker had a separate grill, but most grills now are part of the oven.

Okay, that makes sense, except for WHAT THE FUCK IS A 'HOB'?

EDIT: Oh, so that's what a hob is. Well, our oven has one of them, too.

An oven is an enclosed cooking space. Your oven doesn't have a hob in it.

Yes, thanks for the lmgtfy link. I had already googled the answer; I was merely calling attention to the ridiculousness of someone defining a regional term using another regional term.

Then I shall call attention to the ridiculousness of expecting me to be fully aware that any particular term I use is not used in your region when clearly you're not familiar with my regional terms in the first place.

Australia has its own regional terms, most of which I am well aware and careful not to use in mixed company.

But then I guess that most of your international travel has been to non-English speaking countries.

Look, I assumed Nate would use 'oven' to mean the same thing as I do. And since I use the word 'oven' for what you use the word 'cooker', I translated your regional term into my own regional term, which I figured would be a regional term that Nate used too, since every Australian I've ever met has called the whole damn appliance an oven: it's not my fault Melbourne's BARELY Australia now, is it?

Besides, we use 'oven' to mean the enclosed cooking space - eg, "Whack it in the oven" - but someone goes to buy an oven, usually they mean a 'cooker' and not just the enclosed cooking space. OKAY?

What are you smoking, Ench? I didn't criticise your usage of the word 'oven' at all. Hell, I didn't criticise anyone's usage of the word 'oven'. The only words I criticised were 'cooker' and 'hob'.
