Headphones

Posted 12-22-2011 at 06:22 AM by Mr. Bungle
I'm in a rush, so I'll make this quick: someone recommend me a pair of decent headphones with great quality sound and a lot of bass that don't cost $100. I'm looking for some in the $40-$60 price range. Anyone willing to help me out?

I was just thinking of starting a headphones thread last week! I ordered myself Sony MDR-XB500's for Christmas, I heard they are great for bass and they're super comfortable. I believe they're around 50$ now.

Looks like Dynamithix found the answer.

I see if I can find any good ones.....

Skull Candy are a bit of a hipster trend, but the fact that they're a company specifically dedicated to good quality headphones should not be underestimated. They've got a pretty wide price range, so just go for what you can afford.

I wouldn't recommend Skullcandy, or at least the 'Hesh' model, my friend had those and they broke in around three months and cost as much as the ones I posted.

My friend and I both owned skullcandy headphones a couple of years ago only to have them break on us within 3-5 months. So I'm a bit skeptical towards them.

Those Sony headphones sound interesting, Dyna. Might consider those.

Oh yeah, they are fucking fragile. My earplugs broke in a couple of months because the cable got worn out from me wrapping it around my iPod. Treat them nice and you'll be fine though.

Beats. Nuff said.

Don't get yer standard in ear ipod headphones if you want to listen to dubstep, I did that and busted one of the headphones because of the bloody bass...

For those who despise shitty earphones and don't care so much about appearance, I own an older model of a pair of these - And have had them for nearly 3 years now. Cheap as chips, but for their price they're incredibly durable, they've been on many road trips and my tiny Sansa Clip+ MP3 player runs them without draining the battery too much. The sound is pretty decent, and although they don't have much bass (which I miss when I use them instead of my stereo) it's still quite audible.

They can also be used for voice chat if you thread a desktop mic through the headband.

@STM

You do realize that the beats by Dre are the worst headphones you can get for that price?

Sennheiser are the best quality and most reliable headphones I've ever had. They do have some (comparitively) cheap models, but I've never actually tried them.

Just before reading Nate's post I was going to recommend Sennheiser. I'll just say that he's totally right, they really are the better make when it comes to audio quality. And they aren't really bank breaking either for a decent set of ear/headphones.

I own a cheap pair of Sennheiser earphones and the bass off it is phenomenal. It makes the first five minutes of The Mighty Masturbator extremely enjoyable (especially when stoned.)
