Early Simpsons made me laugh so much.

But they really need to end the thing.

That's true. They're still getting money though and that's all they'd care about.

Perhaps my favourite Simpsons scene.

Given everything they've done, the Simpsons should be the most famous family in the world within their own fiction by now. They need more grounded storylines so that they seem like a real family again.

I like the Simpsons, but a little more consistency and canon wouldn't do any harm.

I don't understand how something can go on for so long without eventually reusing something major. I've noticed they're putting Bart and Lisa into semi-teenage situations because the characters don't age and they need something to do with them.

Well if they aged Homer would be around 70, judging by Grandpa's age i.e he's supposedly been in WW1, he'd be around 140...hell even Bart and Lisa would be like 38 or something.

Excep that Homer has been aging whilst Bart and Lisa stay the same age, meaning that Homer and Marge started dating in high school but didn't start having stupid, teenage, unprotected sex until they were in their late 20s or early 30s.

The simpsons seems pretty ok at the moment. They have got over their slump of just general awfulness.

Still not a patch on 90s simpsons though

This.
Originally Homer and Marge were children of the 60's, then 70's, now 80's. They keep updating the story, which wouldn't be necessary if Simpsons had remained timeless and didn't resort to Family Guy-style topical writing for a cheap laugh.

To this day, I can't stomach any episode of The Simpsons made after about 2003. The movie included. God, The Simpsons movie pissed me off. It was really just one, long, unfunny episode. There was so much they could have done with it, and they just... didn't.

Part of the trouble with The Simpsons is it has no writing bible. Instead it has a group of creative consultants that stopped giving a shit about a decade ago.
