HEY MATT

Korg Nano series might just be right up your arse. considering purchasing one to see what they're like (thinking of the Korg NanoKontrol) as they're pretty cheap, going for around $150 NZ (about $90USD) round these parts.

might have to look into Ableton Live too if you're wanting to perform from your laptop

SWEEEET. Anything under 100 bucks sounds awesome, I will research it tonight.

AND I am going to Guitar Center this weekend to check out some recordy stuff... post-Xmas sales and whatnot.

these are ones for performing live, not recording via mic though just by the way. these would be good if you want to use software sounds (which you probably would anyway, there are 1000000000000000000+ free tweakable VST instruments out there)

but yeah meng at these prices I'll get them and do this shit

SHIT that Korg nanothings is amazing! It says the keys and pads can be programmed with "MIDI control data"... is this to say that I can put a pre-recorded drumloop or melody or any series of bleeps on a single key? This would be most excellent indeed....

To the first one: yes, that's fairly standard and is what a midi controller (the Nano Kontrol) is designed to do. playing something on the fly triggered by a single button, with the ability to mix it in/out etcetc

Excellent... I just figured out my budget AND I found a nice interface for 150. After that and the laptop I will have about 140 in funds to support my food and everything else-related needs. Recording comes before live shows, so this Korg stuff will be a later purchase, but I'm going to work more hours this semester, so hopefully I will have it in my hands come this summer.
