My recurring dream is about getting ready in the morning.
It happens extremely often that I dream of getting up, getting dressed, getting ready, even showering, and then get up to actually have to do it all over again. It's torturous really, because at the end of the dream I'm like 'ah, I'm ready, now I can go.' But surprise, it has to happen all over again.
I'd like to believe in dream analysis (I'm one of those people who has the logic to dismiss horoscopes as rubbish but ALWAYS checks them in the paper...) so I'm wondering if it means anything. I guess it just means that I dread getting ready, or something (because I do.)
Lucid dreams have also been of interest to me lately. A lucid dream is one in which you know that you are dreaming and you can control what happens in it. It sounds amazing, but it's true, I've tried it. One Saturday night I dreamed of being in school and, in the dream, I made the critical note that this wasn't possible-- it was Saturday! Everything suddenly changed. The hallway I was in disappeared, I walked around the staircase, and there was blankness, I remember it green. I knew about lucid dreams and I tried to make myself fly-- it worked.
Of course I had already committed the #1 DO NOT DO of lucid dreaming: do NOT get overexcited, or it will end right away. I woke up.
There are techniques to help yourself lucid dream, for example, making a habit of thinking 'am I dreaming?' throughout the day, even though it sounds stupid. I can't be assed to practice, however.
Dream emulators?
I want to share (if I haven't already) a terrifying little game which was never released outside of Japan, called LSD: Dream Emulator. It is based on a dream diary that someone kept for 10 years (I believe) and the gameplay just involves you walking around in areas which are randomized in sound and events. As you play, it gradually seems to get worse.
The game was released for the PS1 and it is almost impossible to find. There are many videos of its play on Youtube, however, so knock yourself out.
