The Pale Blue Dot

As Voyager 1 left our planetary neighbourhood for the fringes of the solar system on February 14, 1990, engineers turned it around, at Carl Sagan's suggestion, for one last look at its home planet. Voyager 1 was about 6.4 billion kilometers (4 billion miles) away, and approximately 32 degrees above the ecliptic plane, when it captured this portrait of our world. Caught in the center of scattered light rays (a result of taking the picture so close to the Sun), Earth appears as a tiny point of light,...

A mind so wrecked.

Posted 10-16-2008 at 07:12 AM by Bullet Magnet
I wish it was as simple as just simply laying out the facts and show people how obvious they are and how easy to understand they are. That's the policy that I have adopted throughout my entire career, through nine, ten books. It works for some people but I am afraid that it is becoming increasingly clear that it does not work for people whose childhood indoctrination (imprinting, one might almost call it) is sufficiently strong.

The most dramatic illustration of this I know is a man...

Biologists on the Verge of Creating New Form of Life

Posted 09-11-2008 at 05:51 PM by Bullet Magnet
False alarm, my doctor said that the state of my gums was merely the result of severe dehydration, so regardless, the orange juice did help. He let me go home after I convinced him that I really did not require supervision just to survive. I find the order at which the symptoms emerged to be perplexing at best.

Anyway, I have interesting news.

Good news, everyone!

Truly artificial life, ie, complex organisation allowing for the processes...

A recapitulation of criticism against the theory of childhood.

Posted 09-09-2008 at 08:41 AM by Bullet Magnet
[link]

The theory of childhood, also known as child origin, is a damnable, loathsome and indefensible lie. How can any thinking person suppose all humans used to be babies once? Just consider these arguments:

There is no development path from babies to adults, no transitional forms between these two species. Show me even one baby with the head of a grown man on his body. Can you? No? Not even a bearded toddler? No adults with unfused skullbones, outside unfortunate...

The fourth spacial dimension, whether you like it or not.

Given the immense popularity of my last blog, I thought it only prudent to post another. I actually have another planned for tomorrow, but this seemed too good to pass up now. Listen up kids, this may actually raise your IQ.

Specifically, I want to introduce you all to a new friend of mine. It is part of the hypercube family, but not the two-dimensional square, nor the three-dimensional cube we are all aware of. This one is also projected into a fourth spacial dimension (none of that...

Blogs. Love them, hate them, there's no denying it- they are an anagram of "globs". That may be one of the reasons they are loved and hated so, but I doubt it.

Regardless, I've seen them used for various purposes. Personal news, opinions, announcements, and (can you believe it) incoherent rambles.

Today, however, I have something to say that does not involve boasting about my new 360 or angsting about the recent births and deaths in my family.
