So we got the biopsy back for Dakota. Apparently its cancer.

The doctors say its either Spindle Cell Sarcoma, Fibrosarcoma, or Malignant Melanoma. All three are big bads, have a poor prognosis (afflicted dogs generally only survive a year after surgery), and are resistant to chemo.
Given what I know of them, its most likely Malignant Melanoma, but they need more tests to be sure. Malignant Melanoma is one of those cancers that can be undetectable in blood work and x-rays....

So the surgery and vet visit went great yesterday. For the most part, the tumor looked much much worse than it really was. It didn't invade bone or any of his teeth (if it did, they would've had to have removed part of his jaw) and was able to removed almost completely. The doctor suspects it may've been something like an epulis (a usually benign tumor of the mouth), but we won't know until the biopsy comes back in a few days....

Dakota's (my dog) condition has been rapidly getting worse and so we've needed to A) forgo a biopsy and go straight to surgery and B) move the surgery up to today.

If you'll excuse my sob story, my dog, Dakota, has a peculiar lump in his mouth that we would like to get biopsied. Unfortunately, a biopsy costs upwards of $360 which is much-much more than we can afford. We will eventually be able to pay for it, but that will take time and time could possibly be very important....
