I had to write an ad for roofing laborers yesterday, and it occurred to me that there just wasn't enough prose in ads calling for manual labor. So, I wrote an alternate. It goes thus:

Oh, tar! Oh, asphalt! Oh, labor of thine!
The nails they do pierce
And bent crooked thy spine

The rungs they do shiver
as laden you ascend

Today I met another weight loss goal. I have now lost 17 pounds, bringing me down to 185.

I'm fairly pleased with my progress so far. I look quite a bit different than I did when I started this thing at 202 pounds, and I feel less embarrassed about the way certain parts of my body look. I still need to lose 20 more pounds to reach my final goal, though.

When I reach my next goal (180) I will make another Karl Barishnokov video so that we can compare the then to now....

Some of you know that I have been trying to lose weight. Trying to lose weight? Fuck that. Succeeding at losing weight. Well, today I have reached my second short term weight loss goal. I have lost 12 pounds, taking me down to 190.

Is 190 pounds still overweight? You're goddamn right it is. I am still 25 pounds overweight. But you know what I'm not? I'm not 37 pounds overweight anymore. And I have no intention of stopping here. I'm going to be thin again, by god.

I broke down and smoked a shit ton of cigarettes.

The battery on our car died on Thursday. No big deal. I bought a new battery and installed. Then it died again on Saturday. At this point, I didn't know what to do. I figured that it had to be the alternator, but I had no idea how to change one out.

I got really stressed, and I started smoking off schedule. Then, I decided we would have a last hurrah with the cigarettes and quit on Sunday. Didn't work. I'm back to smoking...

I have begun my plan to quit smoking today. It is not a cold turkey plan, but instead it rapidly decreases the amount that I smoke on a daily basis.

It's the first day, and I am already feeling weird and wobbly. I haven't gone a day without cigarrettes in over 15 years. This isn't going to be easy.

And have been for a while. However, I've been telling people that I'm 28. I did this because I thought I was 28. It wasn't until I looked at my profile on here that I realized I'm a year older than I thought I was.
