Jack Nicholson did an unrealistic version of the Joker. He did it very well, I might add.

He´s a man who goes around suffocating women by crushing their larynxes, poisoning rivers and ties a vigilante who dresses up like a flying rodent to giant clocks, this flying rodent man also lives in the same universe as a superhuman rainbow coloured alien and a dude with a magic ring whos primary weakness is the colour yellow.

I think realism is a little out of the question.

Not yet unfortunatly but I am looking forward to seeing them when I have the chance, the point I´m trying to get across is that realism, while a nice narrative device in movies, is not really necessary in the DC universe.
