hah yeah i thought this place would get bigger with age rather than smaller. i think atm we're getting a few more regulars so maybe we'll grow over time again, but that's been said before lol. who knows.

If this site doesn't get deleted for various and possible reasons, then yeah it'd be neat.

Also, smart title. Too bad the Thermidor was the eleventh month, not the tenth.

Coincidentally as of this month I will have been a member of these forums for a majority of my life, and I love all of you. I was a pretty big pain in the arse for the mods in my early days but I thank Nate for not (yet) banning me because I have had a lot of fun here. Likewise I feel I'm never entirely free of this place even though I am relatively inactive these days, and I often find myself thinking about the forums. Is OddjobAbe really a middle aged doctor? Whatever happened to that hot Italian guy who cummed on his own face? I feel like as long as Alcar is still hosting this place I'll always drop in occasionally.

Also I support changing the default date settings of the forum to the French Republican Calendar.

If STM wanted to be more accurate and also impress Wil, he could have used the phrase 'two lustra'.

Oh, but from Wikipedia: The word "Thermidor" has come to mean a retreat from more radical goals and strategies during a revolution, especially when caused by a replacement of leading personalities.

Which accurately describes a few events in OWF's history the last two lustra.

Yeah, hope to see more activity. I don't know if it's recently started to pick up ever so slightly, or if it just seems that way because I've started checking it again, but either way it's nice to see some of the perennial bastards still going strong.


OWF used to feel like a hive of wasps that had more angry buzz about them than venomous sting - lots of activity, lots of interesting conflict, littered with nice moments of camaraderie. Now it feels like a pub lock-in, days before the JCB comes and the fences go up around the site. Both are nice, but the quietness of the latter carries with it a touch of melancholy. Hopefully, as SoulStorm advances and becomes more widely publicised we might see a new wave of interest - seeing the forums get more use from new enthusiasts would possibly transform the atmosphere from one of flickering embers into one more reminiscent of a fierce tea candle.

In all seriousness, I am so, so fond of this forum. It's incredible how much love you can have for an internet community, and this place is my internet home. Lots of us grew up and moved on, and I'm thankful for those members in that they gave me fantastic memories. Getting in from school, sixth form, man, the first thing I'd do when I fired up my laptop was open Oddworld Forums and check through all the new posts people had made. I lost myself for hours just reading people's opinions, shit-posts, stories. There was such a sense of community here, and it's been honestly a fucking pleasure to become a part of that community over the years. OWF is part of who I am, and it moulded me into an inquisitive thinker, a skeptic, a patient man.

To those of you still on this site after all those years, to those of you who have been here longer than I, and to those of you who joined later but took this place into your souls, from the depths of my heart I genuinely thank you for creating some of my happiest, most pertinent memories. I love you all.
