Piqued by a recent rewatch of the pleasingly brisk "
Politics in the Animal Kingdom" videos by the ever-popular C.G.P. Grey, I decided to invest some time into learning the ins and outs of a modern democracy, simulate a small voter pool, and establish first-hand just how far the numbers can bend when nudged by savvy politicians.
Things I did not do this week: Eat, drink, sleep, wash, speak. Did I mention I might have ADHD? I need to look into that... I say that every day but never find the time, which I guess makes sense.
Anyway, bouyed by my modest success with randomised votes, I'd like to invite you all to participate in the
Animal Kingdom Regal Election 2016
and elect a new King of the Jungle! Ballots submitted shall be processed by yours truly and run through a few different scenarios, namely:
1. Direct First-Past-The-Post
2. Direct Alternative Vote
3. Representative FPTP
4. Representative Mixed-Member-Proportional (FPTP)
5. Representative MMP (AV)
and finally the "official" system,
Reprentative Single Transferrable Vote (Droop Quota, Gregory Method). If you don't know what any of those things mean, great! I'm sure the results will be very enlightening for you.
So, without further ado, let's see the fated land...
