Was there a tradition of adding a new category every year? I can’t remember but I want to say there might have been.

i was just thinking about this the other day. also, technically, we've actually missed two years of awards. the last awards thread in 2014 was for 2013.

At least I won the best Varrok award. By a small margin, but still an accomplishment, I think.

Aren’t the awards usually done for the previous year? So last year’s awards would have been for 2014, and this year’s for 2015.

The last awards thread you linked to was posted in January 2014. So it was for 2013.

• The next thread should have been posted early 2015, for the year 2014, but we missed it.
• The thread after that should be posted around now, for 2015. It hasn’t happened yet but if we make one then we won’t have missed it.

There’s a two-year gap, but we’ve only actually missed one year so far.

I’m getting code for the thread OP set up, Varrok if you want to host then you’d better get started on your welcoming speech.

Wait for STM. This is his job these days. We had everything ready for last year, but everything was waiting on me to record an introduction speech thing - we were taking the award ceremony vibe to the next level and upping the production value. Then my health fell apart, and so did our plans.

STM will probably just tell you guys to do it, but wait to hear what he says because he might have plans already.

I've still got the template from what I was going to do with Phylum so I'm happy to use that, and I know that you approached me Nate, I'm sorry it's taken a long time to sort anything out but I've been incredibly busy recently.

If people don't mind waiting a couple of weeks I'm more than happy to host again. The biggest problem I have is tallying votes as that takes a long arse time.

e: I've got a couple ideas for a theme this year as well.

Wouldn't it be easier to use Google Docs to make a survey thing and have it tally the votes automatically?

I'll be doing something like that this year, but if you look at the scale of the awards, FA, even that isn't necessarily a simple undertaking and I don't know what the limits of Google Docs are. Anyway, something for me to research.

Google Docs would make it harder to verify who was voting, I think. Doing votes by post is the simplest option and it can’t really be faked short of hacking someone’s account.

My first post with my old account was a shitty Oddworld fan fiction.

I made my first account when I was 9 years old. That's scary.

I actually remember ODDWORLDisTHEbest. I think I talked to him on Oddchat quite a bit. If I remember correctly, a lot of us here were trying to get him to improve on his grammar and such.
