This discussion just made me realize that someone could write a thesis about how Harry Potter living in a closet and being hated by his aunt and uncle while growing up, and then being liberated by a giant hairy man and getting magical powers is a metaphor for coming out and becoming part of the LGBTI+ community.

I didn't know gay marriage was illegal in Romania, I thought the EU forced the decriminalisation of partnerships.

Actually, in 2008 the Civil Code was amended to specifically define marriage as the union between a man and a woman, and the petition they're doing is because the Orthodox Church, which is super influential in Romania, wants the government to specifically ban same-sex marriage in the Constitution.

Also, several EU countries actually constitutionally ban gay marriage.

I is for Intersex and the + is there so you don't have like 20 letters in it.

I always thought it was a dumb acronym. You can't include everyone but by it's nature it's meant to be inclusive. You get people using abominations like LGBTIPQA+ but of course that doesn't include everyone. Why not just have Q+? Queer and supporters.

You know what's worse than LGBTIPQA+? QUILTBAG. There are literally people who use QUILTBAG. I just use LGBT though because everybody knows what I'm talking about, even if it's not as inclusive, and most people stop caring after the LG anyway.

In actual fact, I just think "gay" should be redefined to mean anybody who isn't straight and cisgender (and just don't get into the whole "LGBTGJKRGJFHKDJ23657DJf" shit unless it's brought up), with "homosexual" or "homo" being used to more specifically refer to a person who likes the same sex. I'd say forget categorisation of any kind, but then it's harder for people with specific sexual/romantic interests to meet up and do specific sexual/romantic things together.

Whether right or wrong, it tends to be that if nothing is known of somebody's personal life, they're assumed to be both straight and cisgender, generally. So I find the "LGBTblahblah" thing to be something that enforces the division between what can be currently seen as two separate communities ("straight people" and "LGBT people"). So I think rather than terming each little difference, simply recognising that gender identity has enormously vast possibilities, then leaving the individual to define themselves, is the best way to acceptance, as is recognising that straight cisgender people are a part of the same broad community as anybody else with an identity. All the little terms would still exist, as people with similar interests need some way to network, but it wouldn't be "straight people and LGBT people", as it currently seems to be.
