Drama queen. I hate literally everything. April Ludgate is my spirit animal.

[Edit 13 Oct 2017] I just realized how edgy my blog description is but it's funny so I'll leave it there lmao

Jesus fuck this was the best thing I've ever watched. That fucking Surface Book reveal was unreal and I literally began randomly mashing keys.

This made me so hyped I literally started mashing keys on my keyboard. Wow. Just. Wow. This is how you reveal a fucking product.

i see your point but Google/Microsoft still give away your information to third parties without your consent, because apparantly that's what you sign up for when you use their shit. they say it's to make your experience 'better'. i don't like having private information passed around so i try to stay away from their shit. believe me, they do this. they are watching us. sounds cheesey but they really are. i find it pretty scary.
Sadly, this is not uncommon either. You're just more aware of it with Google and Microsoft because they're bigger and more well-known. In fact, they probably share a lot less of your data than companies who aren't as profitable. I'd bet that Spotify would sell my arse if they could.

I like how my stupid blog post turned into a fanboy face-off and then that turned into a privacy debate.

It amuses me.

You're easily amused since you're an Apple fanboy *wink*

Well, that and the personal slight against me for being vocal about liking a product, which was totally unnecessary.
I'm sorry for that. I freely admit there are many good Apple products. Your defence of Apple as a business is weird. You responded to someone questioning which big tech company isn't shady with a massive Apple logo. Publicly listed companies have no morals, their only obligation is to their shareholders. They all do shady shit.

Like patenting rounded corners.

Apple does far less shady shit than the others though. Not only are they well-known for producing their products to be as recyclable and environmentally-friendly as possible, they also make their offices and datacenters run on renewable energy. Plus all the small things like becoming more outspoken on LGBTI+ people and women and minorities in tech.

I’ll happily admit that even Apple ain’t perfect, but the rounded corners thing isn’t that big a deal: http://www.fosspatents.com/2012/09/c...d-rounded.html

It’s also far less shady than Google’s data collection, or Microsoft having Windows 10 send personal data to its servers without users’ knowledge.

Only after getting terrible reviews from Greenpeace for their products (IIRC, they were dead last among the big manufacterers just five or six years ago). A fuss was made and they changed their practices to match market demand. Just like any other company does. Doesn't really make them better people.

That’s true, but it’s often just as much the way they respond more than why they do it. Consider that when Greenpeace criticized them in 2011 because datacenters worldwide (not just Apple’s) were using 2% of global electricity which might lead them to rely on fossil fuels, Apple responded by committing to making their datacenter run on 100% clean energy, and achieved that in 2 years. There’s “we’ll change our practices under pressure” and then there’s turning your company policy around as quickly and as thoroughly as that.

It’s not necessarily that they’re an altruistic perfect ideal of a company, it’s that their results tend to be better than the rest of the pack.

Not quite that gaping. Yeah, they've definitely done some shitty things, but they've also done a little good along the way.

OSX sucks. It's counter intuitive as fuck and looks like shit.
Is this just a matter of "It's different to what i'm used to therefore it's bad". My only problem with Apple's UI is the annoying shitty little mouse I have to navigate it with. Otherwise it seems more intuitive than anything Microsoft has brought out in the last few years.
