Band Names

Posted 10-01-2015 at 04:50 AM by Shrykull43
So I'm starting a solo project soon that is heavily bass driven along with drums and a synth. I came up with a few names and was wondering what you guys think.

Cryovolcanism - Volcanoes made of ice or other super-cooled liquids especially on moons

Nucleosynthesis - The production or creation of new, more dense elements through the process of nuclear reactions.

Singularity - A point in space where the value of some properties of that point are infinite.

The first two are too complex and forgettable and the last one is overused.

High five for bass, though.

thanks for the high five and the input. I definetly agree about the first two being forgettable and after a google search realize the overuse of singularity

I thought of using Gorthaur or Eru but I feel like it's too deep a reference that would be passed over easily

It doesn't matter if it's obscure, people can Google it. It can even be a completely made-up word (Datsik, Trampa) but one that people can infer a specific meaning from. For example, my artist name is Skyframe. It's not a real word, but you can infer it's meaning and come up with your own.

By the way, don't rush it. It's took me over 3 years to settle on Skyframe.

I think Eru sounds cool, just make sure nobody else has the same name.

Despite that Nep is usually wrong about music, he appears to be right when it comes to band names. It shouldn't be too long, should sound nice and not forgettable. Obscure words are okay. Meaning behind the name connected to the music is even more okay.

Nep hit the nail on the head, a good name needs to be google-able. If you use a name that will show many results that aren't you you're gonna be hard for people to find.
