Fuck, I hate trying to find people on Facebook. I still can't believe how difficult they make it. No, I entered Jason Salt. I don't want to see seven pages of people named Jason Salter before you show me a single person named Jason Salt.

I would argue that it's not terribly obvious, though.... I find that part of Facebook to not be well explained, and the search function to be overly tedious to use. I never knew that was a thing that you could do, and it doesn't particularly help with finding someone that didn't specifically tell you to find them.

That's true, obviously. Unless your Facebook stalking skills are as honed as mine, of course. But we weren't dealing with that case here.

Not possible. I just meant that I'm good at using tiny obscure details to find people I don't know or can barely remember.

You can sort of tell if someone has viewed your profile, actually. If someone is showing up in your "People You May Know" section, and you have no mutual friends, that means that they have been viewing your profile. But that's the only way I know to find out, and it doesn't help if you have mutual friends.

I think that's a myth. It just randomly shows you people you have mutual friends with. And also if you're in someone's gmail or hotmail contacts and they uploaded them while looking for friends, I believe that Facebook stores that information and shows them to you.

It's really not a myth. I've had plenty of people that I know but have no mutual friends with show up in there. The only reason it would know that I have any association with them is if they visited my profile.
