3:00am adventures

Normal night last night up to a point. Went out and got drunk with some old friends. Was great catching up with them. Instead of going back to their place after I thought I would just walk home. Always a bad idea but it saves me taxi money and I love the fresh air.

I'm glad I chose to go home at that time. I was walking past a pub and I spotted a young girl curled up just outside of a small carpark. Because it was very late and the fact that she'd obviously had too much to drink and was alone, I immediately walked over to her. After asking her a few questions, it appeared she'd walked out of a club and had gotten separated from her friends. I've never been in this situation so I decided to ask her how she'd like me to help her in the situation. I suggested phoning her friends and she mumbled something about an ambulance. I phoned emergency services for the first time in my life and answered some questions. About 10 minutes later the police arrived (I was still quite drunk and started to get fucking confused and thought I was going to get arrested or something). The officers decided to get her phone and call one of her friends to come meet her. At this point I realised that might have been a better option but didn't think of it at the time. After talking for a bit they ended up taking her and her friend home in their van and we parted. I was glad she was going to get home safely.

Whilst I was waiting with her, she kept telling me not to go. Of course she didn't need to tell me this because I wasn't going anywhere.
Several groups of people walked by and their behaviour was pretty atrocious. I'd get groups of girls just shouting and telling me "she was having a moment". What the fuck? You as women should understand how dangerous it could have been for her had she not had someone with her. I'd also just get people walking straight by without asking if she was okay. I did get the odd stranger asking if she was though, which was nice.

Basically I'm just pretty disgusted at people. Mocking a defenceless person in the middle of the night. I completely understand it was her fault for having too much to drink. But people make mistakes and anything bad that may have happened to her wouldn't have been justified by her state. I just wonder what could have happened to her if nobody had helped her.

You were disgusted at people for not asking if she was okay? Why should strangers be interested in your affairs?

Never forget, when you want a prime example of how a normal, decent person ought to act...you can look no further than Nepsotic.

You did a good turn for her, Jordan. You never can tell what the situation is and for all you knew she might have had her drink spiked. Any way, just because a few people are cunts you ought not to write off everyone.

I am freaked out that you have been keeping such a close eye on me in real life in order to qualify for the right to make that observation.

Not many people would of done that Jordan, so good job on that.

It's a pretty difficult situation in which people would act differently. For starters, You have no idea what's happened to her. Was it obvious that she needed help? because if I saw someone curled up outside a bar, I'd think nothing of it.

You did the right thing. Not to assume that the wrong thing would have happened without your intervention but good on you for looking out for another human being.

You did well, including the part where you asked her how you could help, instead of just taking all the power out of her hands. sometimes people are in no state to help themselves even in that small way, but when it can be helped it is good to keep them in the loop and not assist in ways they may not be comfortable with. It also keeps them as at ease as possible. Even a well-meaning stranger can be terrifying if they show up and take over a vulnerable person's evening without any regard for that person's will.
