Oh neighborhood, how I love you..

About a year ago, family and I moved out and into a new neighborhood; it's a fairly quiet one with few children and lots of elderly people. (They all barely seem to come out of their houses, making the whole neighborhood look like a ghost town. I'm serious, it's spooky).

Any who, there are a lot of people with dogs, mostly large sized; large sized dogs that do not go into their owners' backyards, and instead are either let loose to run free in the front yard or watched by their owner as they do their business in the front-yard.

To make a long story short: family dog, who is 15 years old, can barely hear or see, had gotten out just about an hour ago. I was the first to notice and so alerted my siblings to come help find him. (I should mention that he is a little black pom, and finding him in the dark is quite difficult).

Anyway, I went down the street by myself to go look for him, all the while holding my twin's phone for light. Well I hear some people, male and female, walking up to their own house and very soon hear the barking of three dogs. Me and my twin have run into their dogs before while walking up and down the cove, and they have indeed charged out at us once they took notice of us. It was only the voice of their owners that stopped them from potentially attacking us, and they eventually left us alone and went back up to the owners' house.

It was the same as before too, when I walked by their house just an hour or so ago; one of their Labrador dogs, Abigail was her name, ran up at me all crouched down and growling, running at full f***ing speed at me. I of course stood still, but just waited for my limbs to be torn apart at any second because of how fast she came at me. The mutt did not get too close, as the guy started calling out her name, and she ran back to him, while I turned back to go toward my house up the street. (I swear to Odd, I felt as though I was going to faint, I shit you not).

What I don't shitting get is; what gives you the right to just let your dog loose in the front yard, trained or not. Yeah, sure, quiet neighborhood where everyone stays in doors and you can let your "obedient" dogs out. But you're going to have to face the fact that new people might move in and enjoy a nice walk down the street, forcing you to keep your damn mutt either on a leash or in the backyard. Am I wrong? Please, I don't mind opinions on this and would like to hear from y'all.

These dogs clearly were not used to people walking up and down the damn neighborhood street, as me and my twin have been doing for exercise, because of the way this dog came running at me; she certainly was not used to people walking around, and surely she might've done something to me had her idiot owner had not called her name.

Any who, yeah, we eventually found our old little pom and he's safely inside now. I'm still quite shaken and frustrated that someone would not have better control of their dog. I mean, yeah, my dad has a large dog too, but she knows better and we keep her in the back yard. I have seen with my own eyes that she does not at all try and run out when the gate is accidentally left open; she is hesitant and looks confused. Yes, she will growl at you and have her fur fluff up, but she is kept mostly indoors at all times. I swear, these people in this damn neighborhood are f**king idiots.

We let our dog out in the front garden, but we have a fence. Even though the gate had been blown off a month or so ago he doesn't ever leave, he just seems confused like you said.

Britain isn't really the place for the whole open front yard thing so I guess it makes sense.
