As much as I am looking forward to The Witcher 3 what they have shown is nothing amazing. Well it is amazing graphics wise etc but personally it didn't get me excited.

Another doom!? Hype.

Yeah E3 was awesome this year. Still reeling, but I'm really stoked for:

DOOM
Zelda (the one that isn't a Dynasty Warriors rip-off)
That Toad game
That Yoshi game
All the first party Nintendo games announced honestly
Bloodborne (that trailer was awesome and I have immense faith with From Software)


also interested in new Fable, Bayonetta 2 and the hordes of little indie E-shop games shown off at Nintendo's conference.

I think he means reboot in a sense that they brought the series back from death rather than in the chronological sense. I mean, I'm pretty sure the new Doom game will fit into the chronology somewhere...

By that logic, Star Wars episodes 1-3 are a reboot. That's not what reboot means.

There is no consistent Doom chronology, anyway. Doom 3 was already a reboot.

Well I never really said reboot was the best choice of word. Just explaining what he meant. Breathing life into a seemingly dead franchise with a new game.

I mean, really though, despite the fucked up chronology would a Doom sequel be a more acceptable announcement that a Doom reboot? Surely such things should only really matter with more story orientated franchises.

And if it's a case of resurrecting Doom, again, instead of a new IP then you'd have to be referred to Jordan's post in that recent franchise resurrections have been very good decisions.

Also, apparently Origins is actually a chronological sequel... which it strange...

I can't think of any two videogames in a series that are less alike each other than Doom 2 and Doom 3. Doom 3 was definitely not perfect (remember the flashlight mod?), but recently retro shooters have been making a comeback with Wolfenstein and Shadow Warrior. I for one have very strong memories of Doom 1 and Doom 2 and look forward to new IPs, franchises and reboots alike. Gamers can vote with their wallets. Time will tell whether people want new franchises or not. New franchises certainly aren't going away by any means, look at the huge success of games like Dishonored, Watch Dogs and Titanfall.

Right considering that ID where making a full 3D remake of a game that was so unique from modern games I say they done a great job. I personally really enjoyed the game! It's hard to compare it to its predecessors but still I think it was a good game, especially when you throw in some really buggy co op modsXD
I don't mind them taking Doom somewhere else in terms of gameplay (Just not a COD style shoot up please) but I can see die hard fans not being pleased at all with a change. Anyway I just hope they don't screw it up, chances they will but if they ace it.... I just can't wait.

I'm not saying it'll be great, but Doom's one of my favourite shooter franchises so I'm certainly thrilled at the thought of a new one.

But it could be great. Like Doom 1, 2 and 3.
