Moving to Australia

or thinking about it, at least. Have a fair few e-buds down there who say they could land me a job and a place fairly easily, provided I come financially equipped enough of course.

I've been wanting to live in another country for years, and I think Australia is a nice place to start. I have a few high school friends living down there as well, they say it's great.

So I'm asking: what's the cost of living in Australia? Specifically in the Melbourne area, as that's where virtually everyone I know from the country lives.

Help me out, Aussies!

In terms of accomodation, it depends on where you want to live in Melbourne. Closer in it's hella expensive, further out it's pretty reasonable. Other expenses are not especially cheap (bear in mind anything imported has to travel a very long way, plus we have a 10% sales tax on almost everything), but your perspective of that would depend on where you're coming from.

Wow, if you want to immigrate, good luck passing the points test. Not like, sarcastic good luck either I mean seriously good luck. It's a very xenophobic exam. :P

If you're just getting a work visa though, fucking go for it, it'd be an amazing experience!!

Yes, but weighted in favour of Europeans. The education points might be more difficult, though.
