My house flooded this morning. The river broke its banks, and currently flowing freely through the neighbourhood and my living room. Worst weather ever. Zero stars. Would not buy again.

That almost happened to me in August, and although it didn't actually breach my doorframe, I know what it feels like to watch water flow inches past your door, and the stress of not being able to do very much about it...

Were you able to move some of your stuff, at least? You have my sympathy.

Stuff is moved. It came in before it ever reached the doors. It just suddenly started seeping up through the floor, like some kind of nightmare. The door frames were the last places to get wet.

The freezer is outside in the shed, and it shorted the power out. So in the pitch black of 5am I had to lift sofas on to chairs by myself.

My aunt over the road had it in nearly up to her knees.

Apparently the village was evacuated, but we never saw any authorities. Not that access was physically possible. We did eventually manage to escape. I'll post pictures later.

I just checked the house. It is fucked up. And it stinks. Entirely unliveable. Not much we can do right know, it might flood again tonight or tomorrow.

Sand bags are time consuming to fill, not really that effective, and some councils won't give them out for free. (like mine won't.)

@BM - Hope your insurance will cover it and that you have a place to stay in the meantime. The upcoming storms apparently shouldn't be as intense as the last few ones...
