So I got my results from the last 2 years today.

I have an ATAR of 88.6

Basically that meas I could get into a majority of courses that aren't medicine, law at a good uni, or super-specialised engineering. ATARs are out of 99.95, and anything into the 80s is better than most people.

Given my year I didn't really know what to expect. I knew I'd done fairly well in all of my subjects, but I was a little bit surprised to see only As and Bs. In the last 2 years my lowest mark in any subject has been a B. I scored an A- in my maths exam, which is a little bit lower than I was expecting.

So yeah, even juggling fatigue for most of the year I managed to prove that I'm smarter than most of my friends.

This is looking good to get me into the bachelor of music, but I won't know that for sure until next month.

tl;dr I did well.

Considering the circumstances, I'd say that's very admirable indeed. Congratulations Phylum!

Hey, 88 is a pretty respectable ATAR any day of the week.

Sweet. Congrats!

Does the ATAR actually get taken into account for a music degree, or is it based on auditions?

The audition determines if you get considered for an offer. They theoretically use the ATAR now, but it only matters if they've offered more spots than they have. Also the other 2 people who got in on flute are transferring from a diploma, so I don't even know if they'll look at my score.

That seems backwards to me. I would have thought they'd have a certain minimum cutoff for ATAR, allow those people to audition, then allow the best however-many-spots-they-have people get in.

But then, I've spent 11ish years out of the last 13 in universities. I've given up hope on them behaving logically.
