Hey Mr. Bungle, Guess who I just Saw!

Posted 11-21-2013 at 03:55 PM by STM

The most emotive live music I've ever heard. Godspeed You! Were simply amazing. I took some videos but unfortunately I lost the sound transferring them onto my laptop. The projections are still cool though, I'll upload them if anyone wants to see.

I'm so hypstur.

I saw a free John Zorn concert last night which my cousin alerted me to. What do you think of that, DI?

They are, incredibly emotive! You don't even realise when their music has started because they tuned up their instruments and flowed straight into the first track. I've never been told to SHUT UP at a concert before until last night because I genuinely didn't know they'd finished tuning.

The projections are fantastic, each one was so memorable. There was an amazing black and white film of this train ride down some old railway and it had these tunnels carved straight out of the rock of the mountains in bizarre shapes. Everyone just stands there still, staring until the music intensifies.

Funnily enough, Zorn was playing solo on the church organ for about three quarters of an hour. Earlier in the day, some chamber orchestras also played some of his contemporary classical work.
In fact, at one point before the concert, I could have pissed beside him, but as a normal human being, I thought then and think now that that would be a very odd thing to brag about.
