(Yeah I'm late for the blog meme)

... Is what I was saying yesterday whilst standing in increasingly heavier and heavier rainfall, watching stinking, sewage-tainted flood water pool against the wall of my house and flow directly past my front door, while being almost powerless to do anything about it.

20mm of rainfall fell here in Essex yesterday afternoon in the space of an hour, following a day of heavy rain.

Somehow I managed to get away with only minor damage that was easy to clean/fix without the house actually being flooded, even though it was pretty damned close - Freak near misses like that serve as yet another reminder to appreciate what I've got. Others in the surrounding area weren't so lucky.

And this happened in my home town:

Yay, climate change. Rainfall hasn't been as bad as that in the 27 years I've been living here.

Your only option would be to dig up your foundations and sail your house away like a boat, kinda like in 'Up'.

You'd be able to put the balloons on the bottom of the house instead of the top.

Columbia style. :P Then I'd found a floating city and start my own ultra-extremist pseudo-religious cult, with all the race supremacy and crap. ('cept the whole floating buildings thing was done with the Lutece Field and sci-fi magic, but whatever)

Essentially, you'd have a really big cruise ship.

Then you can start a war of piracy against those of us with the sense to not live on flood-plains, with the cannon-fire and pillaging and ravishing and soforth!

jesus, sounds stressful. my grandparents house was in danger of flooding or sinking one shitty rainy day. i dug a trench along the side of the house to try and divert the flow past rather than through, it was at the bottom of a hill you see. seemed to help.
