There is no kid. There is a zygote with no feelings that is not going to continue to gestate. And no. I told her that I would not push her in either direction, but that we would have to do a lot of talking if we were to decide to keep it.

Eh. I mellow as I grow older. I still think late term abortion is pretty gross. I don't know. I've killed so many potential people at this point, what's one more? This one just got closer to living than the others.

And Varrok, everything has potential for something positive or negative. That zygote may have the potential to be a happy person but it also has the potential to be a very miserable person. It's better for the kid to go before it can be considered a kid than for it to be born and thrown into an orphanage. No matter how much their parents may love them, there will always be that feeling of abandonment, and it's painful for all parties involved.

I think you're both making the right decision. Taking a risk by bringing the child into the world when both parents are against the idea wouldn't be fair. A lot would still go through it regardless of whether they wanted to or not, and I think you're taking the fairest option. It must be an extremely difficult decision, at that.

Another reason that I don't feel particularly like I'm doing something that is wrong is that this was not a case of us being careless. You are not supposed to be able to get pregnant with an IUD. Their track record shows them being more effective than condoms. We took precautions, a freak accident occurred. I do not want us to be tied together by an accident that neither of us wants. That is no way to make a healthy relationship. And I don't think I've got another "Surprise, I'm leaving you, and taking your kid with me" left in me. I don't know that I would make it through another one of those.

I won't say this is a "good" or "bad" course of action, because in this case it isn't a moral decision, it's a practical one. Neither of you want more children. You attempted not to have children. You've accidentally started a process that will result in a child. Your decision is sensible, and beneficial for most involved.

In the context of your previous blog, I presume you're going to be sticking together for the time being. It's difficult to imagine a worse time to try breaking up again.

I've got nothing to say about abortion because it's your decision and has nothing to do with me.

I just wanted to interject at this point and talk about orphanages. Babies don't go to orphanages in the USA any more. Demand for adopted babies in developed countries is so strong that most prospective adoptee parents have to go overseas to find a child. If a pregnant woman decided to give away her baby, the new parents would have been chosen well before it was even born.

FIRST BLOOD

Everyone wants a cute newborn baby. Nobody wants a troubled and institutionalized eight year old.

Finally got to go out and see her yesterday. She's dealing with it well. We talked about how we're going to go forward with everything, and as soon as she's able we'll be making an appointment with Planned Parenthood. She's vomiting almost constantly right now, and spent most of yesterday trying to sleep while curled up in my lap.

It's complicated, and I feel sad. The decision we've made is the right one, but that doesn't mean we have to be happy about it.

Does the PP in your state provide counselling?

Wait, why is she vomiting? Is it normal, in her current physical state?

Ummmm....yeah. Vomiting in the early stages of pregnancy is fairly normal.

I'm not going to any more counseling. Sometimes shit is sad. I don't need to sit in a room, and be told it's okay to be sad.

That means you're a rational person. I'd be worried if you could feel happy (or even neutral) about it.

Ahhhhhh, yeah. We've discussed that somewhat. Honestly, she's taking it better than I am....for now, but we've discussed the fact that once it actually happens it can be very emotional, and she may want to talk to someone about it. She hates being pregnant, though. She absolutely hated her first two pregnancies, and she is hating the way she feels right now, so any emotions she is having are being outweighed by her desire to have my demon spawn out of her body at this point.

Planned Parenthood has scheduled us for the 18th. They made her look at a picture of an aborted fetus online before she could print out the form. Fucking asshole republicans.
