Well, my brother and my sister's girlfriend are both non-cis so y'know thumbs up with everything.
Shouldn't that be your sibling and your sister's partner? Or am I overthinking this?

I think you're over thinking it. He seems to be referring to them with words that correspond to the gender they identify with, or at least that's how it read to me.

Has Josh chosen a pronoun that...

um

Has there been a pronoun chosen that Josh feels comfortable with yet?

Because tiptoeing around the issue feels more patronizing than calling Josh 'it'.

It was pretty clearly stated in the blog itself they want to be referred to by they

I refuse on the grounds that whatever Josh identifies with, Josh is clearly still one person.

Also it's boring.

Then you're just being disrespectful? They can be used singularly as a neutral pronoun and has been for at the very least 100 years.

As a placeholder.

Also I'm (mostly) teasing. The majority of my friends are transgender, so yeah.

Actually, my brother identifies as female; I consider "brother" to be more a description of our relationship (60% of which was during the "pre-reidentification" era) than my siblings' identity.

Whether she's male, female, neither or both, she'll always be my brother.

As for my sister's partner, she seems more concerned with identifying as transgender than anything.

I've had a couple of friends who were gender queer or whose sex was male but their gender was feminine, the latter I was actually quite intimate with. It must be a terrible thing to be a girl locked in a guy's body or vice-versa...

Two people I know very well suffer from depression because of it. One was sort of my girlfriend for a while. It's complicated.

I was locked into a woman's body once. I warned her the handcuffs were a bad idea.

The girl I was - close of with - had...has depression because of it too. It really is a shame, fortunately there's light at the end of the tunnel because she's preparing herself for seeing a shrink about getting a change.

It must be horrible. I remember, I used to think they were being petty, and you get what you're given. Then I realised I was a close-minsed arsehole. That said I still don't understand it, I suppose I never will.

Not really. We're good for second-person pronouns. It's the third person ones that are troublesome.

Can't 'he' be considered gender neutral? Or is my Monopoly instruction booklette implying women can't own property.

He is an old universal gender neutral pronoun but it's not any more. Historically 'man' has also been a word for everyone. 'Mankind' for instance.

If you want to be interesting, use the Middle English 'ou' as in, 'ou will go to the shops.' It replaces 'he/she'. If Josh wants to speak about s/he'self then s/he could use 's/he'.

I think the best choice is to use the abbreviated pronouns:

'e (for he or she) or 's (for his/hers); h' (for him/her in object case).

I tend to use the pronoun of the gender the person feels they are. Especially on the internet where the physical manifestation of gender isn't really represented.

There still needs to be one for people who feel they don't have a defined gender though.
