I saw it. It was cute. But there was no miracle here by any standard. I notice that the woman in question claimed to have prayed only for her survival and her dog's, but not for anyone else. Ten children, fourteen adults.

In times of panic, would you really stop to pray for strangers? I mean, now that I mentioned it I would, but it probably wouldn't cross my mind. Think about her situation. As far as I can tell she lives with only her dog, and seemed devastated that he had been lost in the tornado. If you had just lost a beloved pet and were in a life-threatening situation, you would be praying for yourself and your pet too. Under the circumstances, it probably wouldn't cross your mind to pray for othef people. That and she never said that she hadn't prayed for anyone else. The dog is alive, and he was found in a heartwarming way. It's not like we're disrespecting other people by being happy for that lady.

I wouldn't pray at all. It's like they say: nothing fails like prayer, with the exception of abstinence-only education.

She did say she prayed for no one else. She said the had two prayers and then listed them. I'm not angry with her but I am distressed by the total lack of perspective that is endemic to humanity.

Whenever someone calls something like this a miracle or that is an answered prayer, all I hear is the claim that their god made the effort to save a small dog but didn't life a finger to save ten kids. That makes god an asshole and everyone who worships him an asshole for thanking him for it when only absolute revulsion is appropriate. A morally consistent headline with perspective would not be "dog miraculously survives tornado," it would be "God saves dog, ignores tornado." Or worse "God sends tornado, saves dog."

That's perspective. The dog would be alive anyway if nothing at all had happened. But something did happen, it was a terrible disaster and people died and in a just world the lives that were saved should not have needed saving in the first place.

We almost saw that on the news with Wolf Blitzer's gaffe though the young lady in question opted for diplomacy. Not that it wasn't small enough for this facially flatulent paranoid to propose yet another insane conspiracy.

But BM, people are like, evil, man.

Well I'm sure the news don't have enough time to broadcast a story every time someone dies. This was just a nice little unexpected event. Holy shit

I just though it was cool that the dog didn't die, and the fact that it was alive, right next to the woman the whole time, it kind of was a miracle. It's like you think I'm ignoring the people that died. I didn't mean "God saved that dog" by saying it was a miracle.
