Fuck My Arse

I've been working on this fucking track for 2 hours and then Ableton crashes. So I'm like, "Okay, it'll be fine, it has a project recovery feature". FUCK YOU, ABLETON 9 HAS NO PROJECT RECOVERY FEATURE.
Knowing how much it crashes on My laptop, I'm fucking uninstalling that cunt and going back to 8. At what point did they think "Hmm, we've added a bunch of new stuff, let's trim out the fat, how about the fucking PROJECT RECOVERY?! SOUNDS LIKE A FUCKING PLAN."

I just lost 2 hours of work on something I was really happy with, and I don't mean just MIDI work, oh no, I spent at least half an hour EQing and compressing that shit.

So My day's been pretty shitty so far, fucking people throwing shit at me all day and being.cunts, now this. And I won't go into any details but the bringer of bad news messaged me on Facebook and brought some fucking bad news, brilliant. And this elastic band isn't doing shit either, that psychiatrist hasn't spoken to me in ages. It's also worth mentioning that there's some fucking randomer in My house who looks lke she's come straight off the fucking Jeremy Kyle Show, she even has the baby and everything. She's one of My sister's friends and I'm not going downstairs until she's gone, not that I would anyway.

I usually listen to music when I get one of these depression waves but lately when I listen to stuff it just makes me even sadder and angrier because I can't make music that good.

I'd APPRECIATE it if you'd like My damn Facebook page, I only have 24 likes which means I.need 6 more for insights. I will love you if you do. Www.Facebook.com/Nepsotic
I'm starting to think that maybe I'm one of those CUNT teenagers who are consantly bitching about their life when actually it's not even bad, I.mean, most of My blogs are just moaning, it makes me feel even worse because a lot of you guys have REAL problems and I.don't know what I'm so fucking sad about.

Shut the fuck up Varrok, all I ever see you fucking do is taking goddamn potshots at people in their blogs. Grow the fuck up or be a little more fucking interesting because I’m really getting tired of seeing it.

Ok

EDIT: To elaborate, it was the response to the first paragraph only. Now, about the second one:

Did she do anything wrong?

Also, the facebook cover photo looks great. Best thing you've done so far. But if you were going to change anything, it should be the plate, its quality is a bit worse than the rest.

I agree with Manco, what the fuck, dude?

That sounds really shitty Nep, all I could say is make sure you backup your stuff regularly, even if the application didn't crash, there's plenty of other things that could go wrong. =/

I'll just start using 8 again, it has a recovery feature.

And yeah, she wasn't doing anything wrong but I just felt uncomfortable and was angry from My day.

Learn an instrument.

To elaborate there, learning an instrument can be really therapeutic when you're angry/stressed/sad whatever.

There are always people who can write better music than you. Even the best musicians bhave idols, and people they take insperation from. Also, Shostakovitch* was quoted saying "Good composers borrow, great composers steal"

I liked the page. Now take my advice and try making something other than dubstep

Oh, and from a strictly biased point of view there's nothing wrong with posting whiny blogs here.

*Actually, it might have been Stravinsky. It definately started with an S.

chin up, pal. and keep at the music making, the only thing that will make you better at what you do is doing it more until it becomes natural to make a piece of music you probably hate but everyone else loves. seriously, just keep at it. that's all you have to do in life with anything; the more you do something, the better you become, whether you like it or not. that's one of those cosmic facts of life. nothing can change that. if you feel worn out but pissed off/depressed/whatever, use that emotion as fuel to keep going. there's something incredibly admirable about people that just kept going and never, ever fucking gave up. we're human, after all.

so, keep going. what doesn't kill you makes you stronger and all that shit. i can vouch for that.

I would, but the only problem is I don't have the patience or money for learning an instrument.
If I.was going to learn one it would be.the keyboard because.it would help me out with MIDI.

Loosing work is so annoying, but you've just got to move on from it. Also, pretty much every teenager moans about their life.

I've actually been thinking about trying to learn an instrument myself. Lately I've been getting frustrated with the work I do, and wouldn't mind trying my hand at something a bit different.

Of course, I have no clue about instruments. Probably a guitar, but what brands are good, how much money can I set aside, etc.

Depends what you want from the guitar. If you want to learn I'd really suggest you do it on a classical guitar in which case a good starter (full sized guitar) would probably set you back about £120-£200 maybe?

I would take it as an indication that none of the actual gay members were interested in taking you up on that offer.

Well I went out to a music shop, asked what kind of guitar they would recommend for someone just starting out. Snagged a cheap acoustic, cheaper than what you recommended.

I think I'm gonna start with learning what I can online to see if this is for me. If things go right, maybe start taking lessons.

That's great! If you want a good do-it-yourself book then look at 'Enjoy Playing Guitar' by Debbie Cracknell. That's the book I first taught myself with and it teaches you slowly. I'd suggest you learn from a reputable source because there are a lot of things you need to pick up from the outset like rest stroke and hand/ thumb position.

I'd also suggest you get a book on scales and arpeggios, the one I used was 'Scales and Arpeggios for Guitar' by the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music. It's for grades 1-5 in guitar but even if you're not doing grading (and I'm guessing you won't?) it advances you in scales in manageable steps.

Hope that helped some.

If you're interested in getting good, get a teacher.

At the very least, find somewhere you can go and play to someone with more experience with you. If you're learning for a hobby the more casual setting the better.

What I'll probably do is try and nail down some of the basics and simple stuff (posture, how to hold it, frets etc) and then get in touch with a teacher early on so I don't accidentally develop bad habits.

Also I may as well wait until I've developed calluses before going in for lessons.
Posted 04-21-2013 at 05:42 AM by Manco

STM's Avatar
I've been playing since I was 7 and I never got calluses for more than a few days at a time. =P

Don't get roped into half hour lessons by the way, you need a full hour to make any real progress, also don't do group lessons, but then I suppose that sort of thing extends to learning any instrument.
