I don't know if there was an actual bombing in NJ, at first there was a report, but now it is gone and some are saying it was a test? I don't know.

It's sickening...there's blood on the pavement. You have to wonder how anyone could do something like that. Sit there making or buying the bombs with the intention of killing as many people as possible...and going through with it. Makes you question everything about people.

I'm at loss for words, really.

It's a blessing that they decided to have the marathon on a weekday, otherwise the death toll may have been much higher. I'm going to add today on to a list of reasons that humans are the most evil creatures on Earth.

I was watching the news for ages last night, it's just disgusting. I hope the fucking cunts who did this get brought to justice.

I think that whoever committed such a crime should be very ashamed of themselves. It's one thing to attack innocent people but these were fundraisers and families. I hope that justice will be done and that the people affected will get some closure.

According to a friend at sixth form today, the bomb was made from a pressure cooker. If that's true then I find this strangely ironic considering recently XKCD answered a question on how much damage a pressure cooker could cause and his answer was 'very little', if I remember correctly.

To be fair, Randall Monroe was talking about the damage a pressure cooker could do when it's being used as a pressure cooker. Not when it's packed full of explosives and ball bearings.

The ball bearings (and probably the shrapnel from the cooker itself) are the more important factor. I saw a video of the first explosion* and it really wasn't all that big. However, people were injured over a much wider radius than the ball of flame.





*Which I would not recommend. The one I saw was not visually confronting or graphic, but the sound of the screams was truly horrifying. Two days later and the memory still gives me the creeps.
